Sometimes, at times...

sometimes when I read others grumble
I too tumble
but then I compose my off cuffy ones …
some senselessness ones
this is such a one…
still you love it
that's the whole fun
poetry makes me smile
and I help others also follow me
those who cry
I shake them up too you see
just simply follow me
I am the master of free verse
off the cuff creative poetry
humour I must all of thee
which accomplish
very few poets like me.

No Longer Musing

The other day I called it in

to my office, from the hall;

it wasn't that my muse was, "off"

it wasn't doing anything, for any reason, at all !

At the onset I thought it was but, a tad tired;

and l thought l'd give it another day;

then l began realizing a listlessness

that was contagious, much to my dismay.

I spoke with the man at the pharmacy

who assured me that there was a cure;

and that, if it were not soon administered

there'd be consequences no poet could endure !

Poet of War

Run!
Go ahead and cry bloody war
Cry in fear as we run towards the shore.
A battlefield,
That’s what I see
A cold and dark moment for all humanity
Funny what a fight can turn out to be.
So just turn around,
Keep walking away,
You’d be afraid of what a poet can say,
Soldiers come our way.
A poet of war has written his verse,
The people have run away.

Saudade [Brazilian/English]

SAUDADE

Você é fogo-eletrico
rasgando em desejo
dolorosa refração de cores
em cegueira de luz
êxstase de ser
prazer de viver

Você é agua caindo
pelos dedos
rio fugindo na desilusão
promessas quebradas
traição e vontade

e eu sou…
saudade.

LONGING

You are fire electric
ripping into desire
the blinding light of colors
in painful refraction
senses stunned
into the ecstasy of being
pleasure of living

Grand Old Hairline

Grand Old Hairline

I don't know much history
yet less about economy
no clue about the policy
But Nixon had less hair than Kennedy
-
-
I don't know about the deficit
can't expand on any party view
But this I know lickety split
Bush had less hair than Clinton too
-
-
Don't know much about the arms race
My train of thought don't go that far
Though Mondale's case I did embrace
Reagan had more hair by far.

for now

as sepia memories exsanguinate
desolation implodes
and copper spasms overwhelm emptiness

with a little guts, magenta wrists -
allow the pain to be washed
in the shade of sorrow
as past gets longer, future shortens

but tears bring release
for now ...
.

Cigarette wrecks in a saucer
gold rimmed Cadillac butts

its ten thirty and the border is open
The radio crackles its hiss and pop show
the faraway flawless dead come alive
to croon

baby you said its all rock and roll

and on with the Show

O holy shit Father

O holy shit Father …

Jesus stood on a hillside and said,
what the hell have you done to man.
Look at these murdering bastards,
they’re killing everything in sight.

The poor animals are trying to hide,
while these cowardly savages graze.
It won’t be long until they eat each,
a pretty picture, so much for might.

Can you not send down a human ill?
forgot you tried that, monkeys died.
Change this religion shit it’s useless,
all these idiots do is argue and fight.

WITH WHOM I STROLL

I seldom walk these woods alone,
matters not the time of year,
when I forsake both town and phone
others stroll here at my side
often loved ones I held dear.

As autumn rolls in like a tide
I hear my brother laugh with me
at flying squirrels as they glide
beneath a silent hickory
as some deer snorts derisively.

Strictly against all existing odds
a farmer was having a bad day,
for out of every farm in the county
onto his farm Leo the lion found his way.!

Well, the farmer was very much startled
his mule, dumbstruck was even paler with shock!
The only other farm animal who saw him
was struttng proudly, and was ol' Colonel cock.

His rooster seemed quite impressed with the cat
but, not so much was the farmer's, work mule;
in fact, he quit working, as scared as he was
and ran and hid, like a big, donkey fool!
