Poet of War

Run!
Go ahead and cry bloody war
Cry in fear as we run towards the shore.
A battlefield,
That’s what I see
A cold and dark moment for all humanity
Funny what a fight can turn out to be.
So just turn around,
Keep walking away,
You’d be afraid of what a poet can say,
Soldiers come our way.
A poet of war has written his verse,
The people have run away.

You say nothing of yourself on your profile but I suspect you are too young to remember Ken Kesey and his Merry Pranksters say of the Vietnam War "Just turn your back and say fuck it"

On second reading...
I'm not sure what you're saying, I just imposed my own history on it. You've got to accept that your reader owns your words.

Another interpretation I could put this is that you are saying everyone except poets are cowards, and there is a certain truth in that too.

Surely you are not exhorting everyone to turn around and kill each other?

This poem I like, because of its many ambiguities. But do you like them?

cheers,
Jess
A new workshop on the most important element of poetry-
'Rhythm and Meter in Poetry'
https://www.neopoet.com/workshop/rhythm-and-meter-poetry

Yeah not my best one. I was listing to a song and I liked the rhythm so i tried to match it. As for the meaning I was just writing what came to mind. I just wanted to get this one out of the way. And i don't really have any profile info cuz i just never got around to it(not just this site, i almost never fill out the personal info). So i totally understand your ideas on the poem, just one of my not so well planned out one's. Thanks 4 reading anyway. Excuse any grammar with this reply, I'm in a mall and I'm on my phone.
