Dicky the Dung Beetle.
Dicky the Dung Beetle lives on the plain
In Africa, arid and hot
He follows the Elephant herds as they stray
And harvests what they have dropped.
Each day he toils as the sun sears high
Shaping Elephant Turds into balls
Then with his back legs he pushes and rolls
Through a landscape where hardship unfolds
And when I have shuffled from this mortal coil
Could I choose to come back, then for me
Reborn as a dung beetle rolling the turds
For this life has been a practice and I don’t know how to finish it and I know it doesn’t rhyme but I really don’t care.

"Selenophile" by @Kevin Bici
"This appealed to my, some would say old fashioned taste, in its simple rhythmic quality. Any suggestions at this stage would be simply nit picking so I will just say well done for a worthy win. Alex" -

"You like it, don't you?" by @Valentin Hușman
"I can't, in honesty, say I like it. It's just not my type of poetry, but it certainly is a well composed piece to make one think. Alex" - February 2026

"A very interesting piece that, to me, requires several readings to get the full impact. I agree with Mark, don't explain your writings. I look forward with interest to more compositions. Alex." -
