Gravity

High up in the sky
I am born.
Misty convections of humidity,
The womb in which I formed.
Pressure changes squeeze and push,
Heralding my birth.
Then the moment!
I am falling into the world
Full of cold light and the rumble
Of my mother’s screams.
Down
Down
Down
I fall.
Living my life in the span
Of a moment.
Splat!
My body bursts
Wetly apart on the hard earth.
My life ebbs into a larger body,
Nourishing and cooling.
Down on the ground,
I die.

Pietrus

Pietrus stood in the arena, facing the northern giant
his sword has fallen, his shield was broken into two
but his will ,the unbreakable steel, remained defiant
as he spat out poisoned blood that had turned blue.

Drums were beaten, the crowd roared in excitement.
Twice, the great Pietrus had proven his prowess,
when he dodged the deadly blows of the mortal demon
who had slain so many mighty gladiators.

Ranting When Enough Is Enough

I'm as done
as burnt ribs on a grill
forgotten under the sun
in love and war no one wins.

When an idiot tries to break you,
attempts to crush your spirit,
tells you you're no good
under the moon or sun, hold fast.

If you're broken under the hood,
feel unimportant in life,
know you're doing your best
though imperfectly, stay true to you.

An idiot who acts bipolar, spread lies
needs to be struck by lightening
then hung from a tree
by that lying, forked tongue.

Frosted Glass

While liquid emotions thicken into chilly icicles
imprisoned within a brittle psyche
the longing draws your warmth
caressing a promise
of thy lips sipping my nectar

in that overwhelming moment
enveloped by your cozy warmth
tears roll down to greet you
drenching my cheeks
your touch turns them
into dew

MAGIC MOMENTS

The sun squints through the distant trees,
morning? evening? doesn't matter,
as a light wind lends its cool soft tease
and far limbs make the sun light scatter.

I could be on my old back deck
or on a stand in forest, deep
listening to woodpeckers peck
as the shadows slowly creep.

For this is that magic time of change,
not quite day and not quite night,
a time a lot of folks think strange
when, somehow, all the rules take flight.

WHEN HELL CASTS ITS SHADOW :updated

WHEN HELL CASTS ITS SHADOW

The dawn breaks cloudy and gray
and the hibiscus bows in mourning
to the death of the sun,
A world of desolation
reflects my thoughts
and my heart
and my soul
sink to a fear born
in terrifying loneliness
There is no sun to lighten my way
and carry me through another day
Time pulls me forever forward
and I am too broken to resist

Lovestruck

Life was lived in moments
letting them slip
like sand through fingers
walking past them
leaving footprints
to be swept by a tide

little did the tide know
what those footprints had to say
the sand kept those secrets
till they wore away
like sea shells

Bush Dawn

We sit holding hands
in the quiet of the morn
this love in our hearts
glowing clear as the dawn

Dreaming of the homeland
so deep within our souls
the river cool and mighty
and the source from whence she rolls

The birds rejoice their freedom
the hills echo in reply
we meld ourselves as one with them
as they soar into the sky

Wildflowers adorn the hillsides
forming rainbow coloured crowns
lush grasses conceal the creatures
of which our land abounds

Darling

Darling,
why are you so beautiful today?

Has the sun's flair
woven with golden strands
a pearl so fair

Your glow has shone the space
the moon has become the face
graciously dimpled with smiles;
a tempting grace

You become the hunter's bait
and my forever's fate

It's not that we haven't been in a long love affair
but Palestine,
you are especially beautiful today.

SHOOTIN'STARR

Walk about. the dirt and garbage adding up.
I close my mind, but all I see is the edge or
your face.
The weathers grown good, sits above us uncertain
like this world. All the while the trees turn bright.
Stars at nite are clearer, the cold you said.
Like the moon sifting in filling time.

I walk with a limp, the broken bones healing
but the shield you swept aside
kept my heart safe
put on your paint and etched your name
so now I ache
