Laundry Day

I'm choosing today
to stage my rebellion
not in chaos or calamity,
but in the mundane.

I count nickels, quarters,
dimes and pennies.
There are so many pennies,
but time;
is there time?

Yes! "Yes there is time!"
you say emphatically.
And for the first time in my life
I don't quite know what that means.

And yet at once
I'm comforted in your soothing and direct words
and in the knowledge
that not all ropes and bungees
are impenetrable.

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?

Comments

I'm not sure where this went. It started clear enough and then confused me. Sorry.

A poet is a nightingale, who sits in darkness and sings to cheer its own solitude with sweet sounds. Percy Bysshe Shelley
