Lost Love

By: Alex Tanner

Should I recall those blissful times
When we like climbing flowers entwined;
Our blossoms scented evenings air
As Love and Lust forsook our cares.

Your laugh was soft and gentle,
A butterflies wings in spring,
Dancing on the sunbeams
Enough to make me sing.

Eyes so bright they sparkled
Diamonds on moonlit snow;
Flashing hither and thither
To make my pulse race so.

We held each other gentle
Yet tight so not to break,
Though deep, our love could never last,
Different paths our lives would take.

For fleeting months we tarried,
Each time we met we knew
This may be the last time
For lovers hours are few.

If I love ten thousand women
Tis you I will recall;
You gave yourself so willing,
For your passion I did fall.

On black nights as the wind howls,
As I lie in a bed so cold,
Your soft voice echoes 'cross the years
To warm my lonely soul.

Far from this Madness

I wish to be a bird
soaring high
even though lonely
in the vast sky

the world appears
mad to me
greedy
gluttons
bloating
hoarding
all minds of
wealthy
and
sweeping virginity
ahead

all power is being misused
rapes galore
gals and guys lie
openly on the floor
with no respects
for elderly

take me far away
from this world
of madness only

I pray up there
to some Lord
may be

Love, Hate, Fear and Trust

Love.
Where I come from; love is like rice.
No rice. No love.
Love, like rice doesn’t exist in a vacuum
Stew. Hate. Meat. Betrayal. Beans. Denial.
Above all; jollof rice. The height of infidelity.
Love is a moving train.
Who says trains don’t halt. Know your station.
Never jump out of a moving train
And don’t be carried away by the rail
“The rice farmer won’t say he won’t plant rice because after all,
It will be mixed with beans and meat and curry and thyme”
Above all, everyone eats rice. Everyone loves.

Black fella speaks

Troy Packer Speaks
I love this country
(a poem from my Indigenous Australian friend Troy)
It’s been our country for sixty thousand years
and I believe in the Dream Time
and I love that the Rainbow Serpent
made the lakes and the kangaroos
made the billabongs

And now that the white man is here we all gotta live together.
I love this country, Australia.

early lust then they love

Very beautifully and pragmatically stated
Love starts coz of early hormones
in guys mostly
some women let admission
oftenly
then they match up as
bf and gf
just for a long while to mingle
and
when entwined in love mostly
they deliver kids but naturally
and
if love still pursues
they marry
oftenly
and
finally as the autumn of life
has its way
leaves are shred
and
skin looks like an
aged oak tree’s bark
love must continue for miles

Imperfection

it's like red stains on snow
the soft withered petal of a rose
how blissfully imperfect
like me.

Yellow, White butterfly and a Brown Monarch

I walked outside to connect with nature;
There was yellow butterflies everywhere;
I spinned like a child in the wind;
Gleefully delighted, trying to take pictures;

I returned to my couch, by window, to resumed watching YouTube videos;
Suddenly a white butterfly caught corner of my eye,
I dashed to the slide-door to see the butterfly, but he was gone;
I've not seen a white butterfly before;

An Autumn Come Home

You made me feel
as the young woman indeed
in the Garden of Eden
nude absolutely

No fear of Adam’s
spear
he was meant to sow tears

But youth has since evaded
we have been with burden loaded

The leaves and petals
have all withered away
come autumn now our way
smear all fragrance away
all colorful hues go too
whom, does autumn bare
as if she was another one
of his ware

LETS UNITE DESPITE OUR DIFFERENCE

The fragments of diverse norms and traditions,
Scattered around the entity.
Glued by the colonial greed,
branded with a label, Ni-ge-ria.
We are not one, we are not one,
Since 67 till date.

For oneness is our strength,
Like lions to their prey.
Tribalism and nepotism you should kill,
for in their hands the keys to division.

This heritage of our forefathers,
Never a campaign to disunity,
but an instrument of love and harmony.

Speech Ineffable

For over two decades
My heart has been asleep

Today, it spoke to me
A speech ineffable

I felt it threatening to out
Through my throat, then my chest

I swear I felt my heart cry
With its eyes and then sobs with its nose

Deflowered
my thighs receive a gush of wind between.

Worlds apart

Im sinking in quicksand
I cant seem to find my footing
My hands are shaking
My bodies moving in ways
I could not have imagined
The sunshine rays
Just dont exist in my world
Shadows fill the void
I have lost all control
The worlds got me spinning
Cant figure out the direction
So lost so confused
Cant figure out what to do
Cant find anyhelp
This is reality
This isnt a game
Its just me
Its how i am
