JOY JOE

Joy

Your thoughts percolate
through the abyss we all state
of mind at heaven’s gate
where is it tis!
No there is no meeting
at the end ordained
the time when it comes
no one will know

you have been so deprived
so as to be able to voice your prize
ere many falter
at their summoned altar
in fright and fear
as no one will be then as near
as poets out here

When Darkness Falls (March Contest)

i know that somewhere there is light
my house is dark, but have no fright,
i've nightlights up and down the hall
they shine though they are very small

the sky is black, no pinpricks bright
i know that somewhere there is light
there's really nowhere else to go
I try to keep my breathing slow

the wind is picking up i hear
perhaps the clouds will fin'lly clear
i know that somewhere there is light
though shadows loom both left and right

Mr. Edgar Aleph

the stars light the grass of the skies quiescent
that retardation are kindled to log fire
of Edgar in the armies heeled boots
than when we were imprisoned,
by silence of pulse in the shrinkage comatose
arrested and by reason, we wrote Aleph lightening
to Edgar if we secretly needed loosening bolts-
and though on snow, sodded ice grills glum
whits is the unicorn in its hermitage
birches bring on he cricketers cormorants
--- Edgar, three tiered parallelogram dashes
turned upside to the where they can swim

For Troy

(Anguish)

We are gasping
at the silence,
the strings
ceased to vibrate

We are lost, we are lost

In the emptiness
we have flashes,
and then your there
within us again
for just a sliver
of time

Your absolute joy
of amazing rhythm
still lives on breathing
new life in memory

(Celebration)

In the thousand sighs of sorrow
that have rippled from our lips,
when the pain has hooked his anchor
and when our hearts just cannot sleep?

DISS

chattel clatter
working worth
turning over
treasures
in long handed
fingers
supple
crafted

smokey serene
musky dusk
swift about
the room
quick footed
casting looks
through the
cascade
blonde
haze
hash tag
momentum
in every click
of eyes
an eve
of a weekend
hushed in
the buslte
of words

..

Dreamdoor

You fell into the abyss,
But did you let go...
When darkness gets heavy,
Wear it like a blanket...

A curtain of glass,
Dont stride in too fast,
As you already are,
On the other side...

Laughter like snow,
Fresh cotton candy,
Melts in the mouth,
And flows to the heart...

Lit up and sparkling,
Eyes like the night sky,
Bejewelled with gems,
Of stars not seen before...

Come join me for a bite,
A slice of the moon,
Or a piece of this sky,
No one will miss a corner...

memories only live

Sad but marvelous
memories remain immortal
we love
we lust
all else we do
we must
but memories
only last

all else does rust

Growing up to be a Woman [A Quatern for Women's Day]

You're a blessing in every form
a cuddly creature, thumb in mouth
wobbly feet doing rock n roll
to clap and cheer of those around

doted daughter for favorite dad
you're a blessing in every form
for mom who perms your girly curls
all do fancy your loving hugs

Growing up soon in sweet sixteen
your youthful charm truly pristine
you're a blessing in every form
all Tom cats have a crush on you

so will we cease to be? (a conversation)

that tunnel over there persists
in beckoning we pair
so will we, somehow, still exist
once we leave, and pass through there?

it’s obvious to me, quite clear
the end’s beyond this place
we two just need to stay right here
in this cosy, warm, small space

but surely there’s a bigger room
to which we’ll soon belong
and, after birth, we’ll grow and bloom
I’m certain you’re mistaken, wrong

The Antithesis (a quatern) March Contest

The difference ‘twixt the comment and critique
is thought by some as trivial at best.
Both natterings delivered with some cheek
comparing hard won art to all the rest.

Midmost though there’s abundance to be found.
The difference ‘twixt the comment and critique
presents a bifurcation nigh profound,
for one is depth, the other rather weak.

A comment is didactics dealt oblique.
A self indulgent practice that inflates
the difference ‘twixt the comment and critique.
Analysis, our skill and ken donates.
