Lost Love

By: Alex Tanner

Should I recall those blissful times
When we like climbing flowers entwined;
Our blossoms scented evenings air
As Love and Lust forsook our cares.

Your laugh was soft and gentle,
A butterflies wings in spring,
Dancing on the sunbeams
Enough to make me sing.

Eyes so bright they sparkled
Diamonds on moonlit snow;
Flashing hither and thither
To make my pulse race so.

We held each other gentle
Yet tight so not to break,
Though deep, our love could never last,
Different paths our lives would take.

For fleeting months we tarried,
Each time we met we knew
This may be the last time
For lovers hours are few.

If I love ten thousand women
Tis you I will recall;
You gave yourself so willing,
For your passion I did fall.

On black nights as the wind howls,
As I lie in a bed so cold,
Your soft voice echoes 'cross the years
To warm my lonely soul.

Bliss

Bliss

most of all, I miss our mingled laughter

traveling the telephone lines,

burning away the many miles

of the abyss of distance between us,

your heart and mine.

your envisioned smile

took me to an elevated state of bliss

Killing God

I worked at a drive-in theatre
years ago
before they died.
not a bad job
lots of movies.
Some tedious tasks,
I had to check every speaker in the field.
Turn up volume,
listen,
move to next post.
Turn up volume,
listen,
move to next post.
Turn up volume,
listen,
move to next post.
500 times.

Neutral Ground

To stop feeling resentful toward someone for an offense,
Or to cease to think of or consider? I'm way too tense
When it comes to having to choose either or;
When my muse at it's leisure morns;
Not being able to let go, with my instability saying I should let it show
Perchance that others will make sound practical judgement
When it comes to understanding my anguish, without sanction.
Saddened because I see reluctance. Dreams of what wasn't.
Doesn't this clarify what not to choose?

Hello Darkness My Old Enemy

Hello Darkness My Old Enemy
Take some time to collect your thoughts inside
The playing field is rough yet we have nothing to hide
Shallow promises made in the dark have come to light
With regard to mental illness we all struggle with the issue
Perhaps we haven't bitten far off then we could chew
A picture says a thousand words as if you haven't heard
The sign post up ahead read stop yet we kept going
It's not based in the know but in the doing that matters

Maggie

Does she exude that air of classic poise
and do you long to gaze at her for hours?
Does her deportment seem more like a boy’s
than one of those intoxicating flowers?
She won’t enslave with feminine sweet powers;
her gangly limbs are not a sight to see,
yet there’s a special part of her that towers
as all who come to know her soon agree.

That something of her spirit bright and free,
soft smile which plays its music on her face;
a warm and kindly heart imparting glee,
dispelling life’s concerns without a trace.

Blueing and Powder!

the light of the motorized choir girl
shone on them
Grey Goose and some good
shit had them warm
the cold apartment
The Guard dog
Ugly with spiked collar
snored..
farted..
a television with
dripped wax candles
played 48 HOURS
their fave show!
Slipknot on the
old IPOD
Psychosocial
time was worn
on them like
their faded tatoos
skulls and kids
and old ladies
names
they brought out
the gifts from
the shoplifted
little tree
some tinsel

Snow Dreams...

Head back and wide eyed
she exhales a plume of steamy breath
Slowly she spins with arms held high
Feather flakes of snow dodge her fingers
to melt upon her face
Silence reigns and I let it be
Nothing I could say would make it better

Far and Near:

All routes we traverse
Places and phases diverse
Speck of Universe

ROSES AND THORNS edit

ROSES AND THORNS

You are a thorn among roses,
sharp and cutting, hidden from the light
deep in the shadows of raging green.
evil is unknown until discovered cowering
behind smiles of honey, and Death soon
reveals itself in the eyes of the dying

Are you not a senior citizen...

Your age speaks
of experience
old is gold
but not today
we are only sold
to human machinations
if from the Internet
we stay away

or

don't have an iPad
what they say
debit and credit cards
are must
use em before
your brain
they crust

and say

all left behind
with no
''WILL''
is theirs

so take your cash today
have a gala day

drink wine and dine
then dance
all say
