Lost Love

By: Alex Tanner

Should I recall those blissful times
When we like climbing flowers entwined;
Our blossoms scented evenings air
As Love and Lust forsook our cares.

Your laugh was soft and gentle,
A butterflies wings in spring,
Dancing on the sunbeams
Enough to make me sing.

Eyes so bright they sparkled
Diamonds on moonlit snow;
Flashing hither and thither
To make my pulse race so.

We held each other gentle
Yet tight so not to break,
Though deep, our love could never last,
Different paths our lives would take.

For fleeting months we tarried,
Each time we met we knew
This may be the last time
For lovers hours are few.

If I love ten thousand women
Tis you I will recall;
You gave yourself so willing,
For your passion I did fall.

On black nights as the wind howls,
As I lie in a bed so cold,
Your soft voice echoes 'cross the years
To warm my lonely soul.

Christmas Eve 2016

‘Twas the night before Christmas
But I didn’t care!
Till the tree I bought said,
“Hey! How come I’m still bare?
My ornaments and lights
Are here on the ground
The least you could do
Is to spread them around!”

I looked at the tree
And just shook my head,
“If you give me more sass,
You could wind up DEAD!”

I guess my remark
Made it think twice
Cos the next thing it said
Was less sassy; more nice

Another Dead God

There was an old god, Abrahamic
whose vengeance was scaled panoramic
but when the tides of science turned
the ignorant bugger got burned
by the first law, thermodynamic

merry lovers

River of Love

When one is young
one is entrapped in love
and
everything is so bright
it blinds the eyes

Then all love falls
into a river
of routine-ness

Water just flows now
not like
the Niagara Falls

Everything is calm and serene
we all have through that been
unseen
only two lovers we

Then the river halts
at every station
passersby alight
non swimmers join in
as they float along

The end is the same
we all, to past belong
but now lame

Puter

I frequently use the word 'puter as an abbreviation for computer. Tonight someone, hearing it for the first time said they thought I was saying something rude. Which prompted this.

Puter pudenda
pubicly portentous
publicly portraited,
parole violated.

There was a young man whose new 'puter
could not have been any way cuter
but lacking pudenda
or pubic addenda
he just couldn't manage to root her

oooooo darkness

O darkness

Keep creating
as you wish
and
O smiling man
you will again run
and
enjoy fun

get out of the gloom
let others doom

you swim
in
and
out
get it
Do

Life is only fun
of the kind we all know
and do

till life's end we all continue
you may also do
if you wish to
Use it or lose it
it's entirely up to you

Trapped

It seems I can't find freedom from doubt
This clings and impedes some of my clout
The rest is at war with a regime of self-pity
Flanking my self-esteem with regret; empathy
Frets with an obscene gesture of disrespect
As if I hadn't shown simplicity to direct
It to safety instead like myself it stayed to adapt
To the only opinion that weans on the fact
That I'm trapped......

PARTING

PARTING
I will be an angel on your shoulder
whispering in your ear
not to cry. not to fear
and never despair ,
you see : how could i
let you know
the pain of loneliness…
I will still be here

BLOTTERbLUEZ

Kaliedascope craze
we crave crave crave
dance upon the surly grave
in marble statutory madness

the snow falls in on little cats feet
the hunter a lynx
draws its retraction
dips a needle to the satisfaction

grinder winter nite in the jampacked
bar
dancing barefoot
watch her swerve
on the deadmancurves
cubes inthe glass sloshin'
whiskey breath
good luck!

Curious

You have always been a curious mind
Dear friend
Eyes with oceans in them
Tumultuous soul
I love that you care
Conflict so much better than apathy
You have always seen hypocrisy
Dear friend
Your mind
Too bright
Your wit
To fight
That is why you ran
From the light
But divine fate has a funny way
Of drawing us back again
Because the noble thinkers
The selfless dreamers
The agape lovers
Are destined to collide with truth
