They Say You'll Come Around

They all say you'll come around
when you're just a little bit older,
when you've got some years
and wisdom behind you.

And they all say you'll come around,
in a matter of time,
and with a matter of understanding.

And I wonder if my father
ever thought the same of me?

I left when I was younger,
and I left when I was old,
and no,
I can never explain why
in a way that will ever make any kind of sense
to anyone but me.

That's the funny thing
about being lost:
most people panic
when they can't find their way;
but that's the only time I feel comfortable.

Style / type:
Free verse
Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?
Last few words:
doesn't feel finished, still working on it

some works are like tidy books with bookends
but i like the fresh wind thoughts like these
like magazines on a coffee table..
like those because they are full of short
stories..docs offices..dental offices..
mental health offices...
stories that can picked and examined
easy read while waiting the hour...
now..

i used to go back all the time...
but always some sour note
comparisons....
i just couldnt do it anymore
my daughter writes me
comes by now and then
she is most like me..looks
like me...the other whom
i was father too..for...
we see each other but
i believe in moving on
healthy....see her now
and then....we are all
good..existing...
they know how to be
in the lost..sometimes
the best random ideas
and new contacts...
open doors are found
in this manner...

thank U connect11
