Johnny Smiles

street lamp halo
glows
black and white
pouty girls

trouble
doused in patchouli
and misty rain

footsteps

intrigue in a panama hat

the shift:

a sultry stance,
the deal, the dance

(fear,
a luxury ill afforded,
but that "sooner or later"
comes to pass)

one makes Johnny happy
the other,
never makes it home
