Good Time Girl

If you wouldn't be so offended
you could embrace who you are.
Instead,
it's back and forth once again.

I said I wanted a woman
who'd be with me,
what do they call it?
"Ride or die?"
And you eagerly nodded your pretty little head
with its pretty emerald eyes
and whatever color your hair was that week.

Soon thereafter
the facade started to fade.
I remember when you stormed into the church office
complaining about some toy a parishioner had given your daughter;
"what is this stupid shit?"

One by one -
and sometimes one by two
I'd watch men come in
and out of your life.
And always you'd beg me
"please be patient with me!"
with your
"baby baby baby" bullshit.

How I thought I was being godly,
how I thought I was being forgiving,
how I thought I was doing the right thing.

You left
for the fourth, fifth, or sixth time;
I forget,
to,
as you proudly proclaimed
"fuck other guys"
until even that novelty wore off
and you were back to
"please be patient with me!"
and the same tired old lines
that I was stupid enough to believe;
or at least accept.

Live your life,
baby.
Nobody's going to live it for you.
Live your dreams,
time will tell you what they're really worth.

As for me,
I told you I wasn't in this
for a good time girl.
I simply don't have the time these days.

a good write on a philandering woman - a Manizer is a new word for it...who is not able to figure out the distinction between love and lust...and keeps going back and forth...
