Lost Love

By: Alex Tanner

Should I recall those blissful times
When we like climbing flowers entwined;
Our blossoms scented evenings air
As Love and Lust forsook our cares.

Your laugh was soft and gentle,
A butterflies wings in spring,
Dancing on the sunbeams
Enough to make me sing.

Eyes so bright they sparkled
Diamonds on moonlit snow;
Flashing hither and thither
To make my pulse race so.

We held each other gentle
Yet tight so not to break,
Though deep, our love could never last,
Different paths our lives would take.

For fleeting months we tarried,
Each time we met we knew
This may be the last time
For lovers hours are few.

If I love ten thousand women
Tis you I will recall;
You gave yourself so willing,
For your passion I did fall.

On black nights as the wind howls,
As I lie in a bed so cold,
Your soft voice echoes 'cross the years
To warm my lonely soul.

fear not the coming ;;;of death!

Death is like a dentist’s injection
the fear of long needle
brought from behind the dentists back
a jab
a slight Ouchy pain
then all ends

so does this happen with life,
I have physically experienced
5 minutes of death
from being….
to nothingness
and
Sorry no heaven
NO HELL
no death
neither angels nor God
nor any wifey or friendy
just none at all
a dead rat- like
that ,that's all

Aged works

Being Seventy two
I am in a right stew
As all the girls are far too young
To talk of love
I would appear to be a bum.

I enjoy all their lives
As I move slowly around
They are like rose petals
Scattered on the ground

Being of a spiritual leaning
Their energy and feeling
Would blow my lights out
if I were to run about
Seeming not to touch the ground

I love having them around
There is such a flow of energy
I could sit in the dark
And become a misery
But old age is too long

Another Woman Stabbed

I see another woman has been stabbed to death.
She had sixteen wounds.
I suppose there could have been more.

A man has been arrested.
It usually is a man, isn't it?

At least she wasn't raped,
which makes this a rare case.

But I've seen so many horrors of this kind
(and acid attacks, beatings,
stonings, whippings and so on)
in over fifty years of T.V. news
that I'm ashamed of being a man.

Swan Dive

The old bridge lantern swung to and fro, searching
wanting just once more to illuminate anything
before its life flickered out.

Then she stepped out of the shadow into its light
tentatively, one foot first, as though testing the water
like a diver does before climbing the ladder.

Each cold rung reminded her of failed dreams
as she pulled herself upward for the first time
only to reach the heights of despair.

the inevitable menu

The only truth about birth is guaranteed death

a little rhyme in fantasy time

Dreams in bottles
and maps on walls,
fairy tales told
of knights so tall.

Dragons and maidens
battle in flaming towers,
as unicorns jump
over plants and flowers.

Elves and dwarves
dwell in a hole,
a witch who steals
your heart and soul.

Griffins soaring
high on the clouds,
wraths who scream
ever so loud.

Shadows whose form
shift in the night,
screams that shiver
to bring on fright.

NO ROOM AT THE INN

NO ROOM AT THE INN

It's not fun when you're seventy-one
and suddenly your body gives way
to your DNA

grandfather to mother
mother to son.
There is no sense in fighting
when there is no winning
and cold hearts turn away.
It's done.

The door is closed.
The lights are out.
Yet I hear someone
moving about,

What would mamma say.....

irrerevant^hayllow

wry bred
a porous sky
beneath an arc
of arm

sweet upon
the spread
like sunshine
on golden
intentions

like winter lending
fortunes clouds
to scape away
the plans
of whims and
ends

and nocturnal
blessed eyes
filled with skies

like points
of ponderance
in a haste
crush rush
behind the veil
of conciousness

and the birds
wait
on the lawn
forgotten
with the crusts

Morning Glow (senryu)

Blinding visions spring
Shattering dew drops spread light
Damp dust on grasses

"Haiku"

The blue bells did ring
The white bells swayed aloof
My lavender soon

"Senyru"

Many bad pains felt
A bonding that makes you cry
Tiny hands reach out

"Senyru"

Love on empty ears
Failed feelings gone, are wasted
No more can I give

"Senyru"

Fat feeder eats much
Cholesterol clogs old veins
Sharp pain felt in chest

"Senyru"

unnamed

The stars no longer shine.
The moon has lost it's glow
No where can I find

The light that I have known
Ebb and flow, ebb and flow
Days to night, roses to thorns

Never changes, ever changing
Awaiting first shards of shadows
Dark comes the night

How many dreams
before again twilight
