Lost Love

By: Alex Tanner

Should I recall those blissful times
When we like climbing flowers entwined;
Our blossoms scented evenings air
As Love and Lust forsook our cares.

Your laugh was soft and gentle,
A butterflies wings in spring,
Dancing on the sunbeams
Enough to make me sing.

Eyes so bright they sparkled
Diamonds on moonlit snow;
Flashing hither and thither
To make my pulse race so.

We held each other gentle
Yet tight so not to break,
Though deep, our love could never last,
Different paths our lives would take.

For fleeting months we tarried,
Each time we met we knew
This may be the last time
For lovers hours are few.

If I love ten thousand women
Tis you I will recall;
You gave yourself so willing,
For your passion I did fall.

On black nights as the wind howls,
As I lie in a bed so cold,
Your soft voice echoes 'cross the years
To warm my lonely soul.

A Place To Leave My Stay

a shining star which gleams for you
a shining star above
its light a glowing guiding torch
a shining star above
of glowing guiding lovely past
which gleams to light our way
a shining star that guides our path
a light that leads away
*
a shining star which gleams for you
a shining star afraid
its sparkle cold which draws us in
a hold we venture there
a shining star above our hearts
and peace beneath our feet
which brightens now the fallen snow
which melts our weary flesh

My Lady Fey

In the quiet of the day
I find some darkness,
come to play
upon the fringes of my mind,
in the shadow of the day.

In the gloomy mist of morn
within the fog
that shall adorn
the vista of a waning night
my love appears,
in fey, phantasmic light.

From some corner of a nightmare
does she look and does she stare
like an owl, silent, sitting,
while I, hapless, unresisting
must succumb my mind and will.

A Quiet Sit

You did not see me standing at your side
I wouldn't talk as you were resting
That you had been crying as an oceans tide
Soft tears flowed that’s what called me in.

Now how do I start to heal these ills of yours?
There is no need for another physical being
This Spirit of mine reached out to your shores
Now I can deal with your disrupted feeling.

You are a creature that is sure of what to do
a point of focus a Mother so very strong
That others cannot understand the real you
Now you struggle but know where you belong

Slapped Trapped in a Bottle

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1CDwQMLJs6QZkp3a0s4YmU1Vzg/edit?usp=doc...

You got me sapped
Like a genie in a bottle
Trapped

Every time my goodness rise
You cut me off at the knees
Down to size

Like a child I cry out in pain
From words tearing
Feeling disdain

Because you don't care to know
The love I have
When you kick low

A Dark Joy

I see the glistening webs
that hold all together
till the last hour of darkness
I commune in silence

sleep being a stranger
I donned a gown,
I am a night walker
the velvet dark
calls to me

the wet grass
squelches between
my toes
the indigo sky
covers my wonder
I am home

shooting stars
and satellites pass
the stars begin
their dim and
a lone silhouette
moves in the
almost light

It wasn't always like this, was it?

what would I do with a middle-class, white, American woman?

probably turn to drugs
or alcohol,
while going broke,
trying to find and negotiate
her 'happy place'
as I painfully pretended to enjoy
the in-laws' family crap
and be force-fed whole gains, granola, and broccoli

talk!
she'd want us to TALK!
no no, that would be it
it would be over
so over

Smiling face returned

Now I recall
the young gal smiling away to glory...
did you run away
to make another...
Love story

Glad you return
and
have penned your words...
else I'd have remained in oblivion still

I have always been unheard
less seen
but memory has never
failed me ever
in between....

where ever one may go
Loved does follow
and
this all know
you too!

LIAR

On this fall night the moon retreats
behind the growing overcast
as in the dark history repeats
deceit rampant as in the past

Within this city built on hope
the founders' groans float on the wind
as their dreams ride a slippery slope
have all their plans come to an end?

The people here now live in fear
of federal power run amok
a system which they once held dear
now bears no hope for better luck

Lucky Strikes
and coca cola

a screen erupts in light
phantasms

the lamps blaze
through the trick
teeth

like the magic of life

swooning on popcorn
and fresh love
the machine alphabets
speakers and thighs
