LOVE HAS PASSED

Love has passed us
like the wind
over the mountains
into shadow
Here now, we rove
Wretched
like ghosts
under these starless skies
and grey shores
bound in grief
and in misery
Until the passing of time.

Love has passed
like the wind
into Shadow.

Who Me?

In an hotel lobby the other day.
Just signing out after my stay.
I creaked as I went for the door
They say pride goes before a fall

This old body wanted to flirt with a piece of skirt
Walked out too fast tripped fell in the dirt,
Ironed the old shirt, sprayed it with after shave,
I think for the old sweaty smell to stave

My muscles have gone so it won't be long
Six feet under to sleep asunder
For that day in an oak box I will belong
Don't you dare pray, what use is it I wonder

lo gloss

impact has sown
symetrical
succinct

shorn ideals
leaflets of rules
fallen
asleep
beneath a ruse
of vacant stars

aiming in a trembling
motion of needles

the beacon steady
while the world banks
the word stumbling

everything locked down
behind the simplicity
of steel
knock down the doors
and let a seasons
rule rise up and impair
the histories

if and when
the turn completes
the slow sun swing
all angles and shadows

Now England

In all it's pastoral loveliness
lush green wilderness
I love England!

Vaughan Wiliams'
'Lark Ascending'
trails off from the Sonos
surrounding my room
with lush lyrical laments
I'm now lachrymose

An emigres memory
I sat by the hotel window
in Warsaw
last century
soft drubbing snow falling
remembering
verdant fields, panoramic skies
Lincolnshire cornfields
tears streaming down
powdered cheeks
leaving
moist trails

At Dusk with Melancholy and Sorrow

We've come to that time of day when I ask
the questions I know will be forgotten
and I listen to the syllables of
your discontent as they puddle into
the space we've built between our severed lives.

And I am awestruck that the inertia
of our tired misery has kept us here
while happiness and bliss and every good
thing dances in our vision and softly
whispers its promises of contentment.

Goodbye

I gave her my heart but she chose to be blind
so I wondered to myself if I've misread the signs
I asked for a chance, my request was denied
I won't prolong this dance, I won't give up my pride

In the silence, I called out her name,
knowing without her, Life won't be the same
but she turned away from me without a care
and left my wounded dignity, stripped bare

Haunted by memories of yesterday,
I closed my eyes and started to pray,
to find the strength and courage,
to take a bow and leave the stage

The Poet's Ode

Those buds I chose both red and rose
to please your sight whenever you paused,
you held them where the heart's enclosed,
both red and rose those buds I chose.

Those stars I honed are like gemstones,
to end your boredom when you're lone,
to cease your moans, to end your groans,
like gemstones those stars I honed.

Those odes I wrote, when ink once flowed,
to cheer you up when life is slowed,
to lift up souls and take off loads,
those odes I wrote when ink once flowed.

s u b m i t t a n c e

the life flows
the eyes dilate
the mouth dries

the body reacts
the voice growls
sizzling in vowels
she feels in her stomach

bends on knees
stretchs the long youthful
beautiful neck

stares at her image in the
floor length mirror
her long straight hair
glossy and fresh

tingling in anticipation
of his large strong hands
the dexterity in his fingers
covered in rings
tatoos

Timeless

In a single moment, I closed my eyes
thinking of the past that we've left behind

We have come a long way, my dear,
to find our path to each other

We have fought and reconciled,
we've even separated for awhile

And each time we leave, saying "Never again",
Fate will bring us back together again

Even after the years drift us further apart,
moments that we shared never leave our hearts

Our youths are gone ,weary skin cast over old bones,
still we find beauty is not something to mourn

Papillons Touch

I walked as if dreaming,
feet swallowed in Autumn colours.
Dust rising as leaves all around,
colours crowded my mind
Beauty beyond my scope
my vision impeded

Reeling senses sought me,
silent words now thoughts.
Amazing spaces drawing my will,
eyes extending as a birthday child
Drinking this in with sighs,
my memory failed me once more

Where am I??

Ridges of black walls,
try to confine me.
A landscape flows,
a rainbow rises.
Like falling leaves,
their quiet symphony
