Now England

In all it's pastoral loveliness
lush green wilderness
I love England!

Vaughan Wiliams'
'Lark Ascending'
trails off from the Sonos
surrounding my room
with lush lyrical laments
I'm now lachrymose

An emigres memory
I sat by the hotel window
in Warsaw
last century
soft drubbing snow falling
remembering
verdant fields, panoramic skies
Lincolnshire cornfields
tears streaming down
powdered cheeks
leaving
moist trails

Sentimental anachronistic yearning
for a place before wars
my England
my soul
ascends azure

Last few words:
Thats what listening to RVW does to me...

I chose you out of a myriad of other poets.
You did not disappoint me. It is a powerfully written piece with much information packed in each line economically.
I did indeed like it.

Hi Wes,

Thank you...I get terribly homesick for England when abroad...for all it's current problems in society, immigration issues, dissolving establishment...the England I always remember is small parcels of patchwork fields, rolling hills, cosy pubs with oak beams and roaring inglenook fireplaces...regional dialects, rugby, football and lots of coastline and people who generally outside our cities are unfailing polite, kind & tolerant.

Home Thoughts From Abroad" says it all, I have been to may countries but have not found England anywhere,

There are a million reasons to believe in yourself,
So find more reasons to believe in others..

I think CTW's 'Home Thoughts From Abroad'...is quintessentially english in tone and sentiment...yes, a rapidly disappearing england mind you, but still unique enough to attract everyone from across the world!
