Pulling teeth

Fuzzy, swirling befuddled, and pounding,
It's all just a little bit confounding.
Many words are spoken, but just sound,
Where is the sense of them found?

Pointless nowhere directions,
Flip back to show our reflections.
Spinning us around and around,
Our crazy earthly mound.

Except it’s us that’s chaotic,
Kind of bat crazy robotic.
Like our favourite song on repeat,
Over and over our lives go, like a treat.

Only this repetition makes us the clown,
When it sees many of us drown.
Unable to walk in other’s shoes,
Thinking these others deserved to lose.

And when we’re faced with stark reality,
Presented with our own fatality.
We turn a cheek the other way,
Glad it’s not us who fell today.

Our pride sees us become blind,
Makes us ugly and unkind.
And the monsters inside do grow,
It’s like pulling teeth don’t you know.

The poem "Pulling Teeth" explores themes of confusion, repetition, and the negative impact of pride on human behavior. The use of vivid imagery and metaphors adds depth to the poem's message.

The poem effectively captures the feeling of confusion and disorientation through phrases like "fuzzy, swirling befuddled, and pounding" and "many words are spoken, but just sound." This creates a sense of chaos and uncertainty, which aligns with the theme of the poem.

The repetition motif is also well-executed, with lines like "over and over our lives go, like a treat" and "it’s us that’s chaotic, kind of bat crazy robotic." This repetition emphasizes the cyclical nature of human behavior and the monotony that can result from it.

The poem's critique of pride and its negative consequences is thought-provoking. Lines such as "our pride sees us become blind" and "makes us ugly and unkind" highlight the destructive nature of excessive pride. The

I get the feel of a rap used to describe the city scene,
the fast-pace, the fuzziness of the superficial stuff.
Nicely done. ~ Geezer.
