It Looks Like October
It looks like October in Cleveland again,
with the contrast of the deep grey sky
and the way the sun breaks through it in the west
in what's come to be known as late evening,
around here.
And I don't know what this autumn
brings.
I'm not as romantic about things these days
and I, I'm not sure who is to blame.
So I'll fall back to my old standby
and blame myself
for being in this beautiful mess
with no concept of how to appreciate it
and give woe to the sins of cynicism.
That said, I must confess a fascination,
even a delight
over the way the wind whipped over Lake Erie on Sunday.
I like grey skies
and barometric pressure,
and I revamped the childhood tune to sing
"rain, rain, stay all day,
come again every single day."
Depression always seemed
a more natural ally and companion anyhow.
Depression with sparks of color!
(Grey skies juxtaposed with the falling leaves and golden setting sun)
That's what autumn is to me!
As an old chef I'd always marvel at the harvest of beautiful squashes, nuts, and apples
the season would produce.

Your poem
As a "confessional poem" you have created a nice mood. The po leans more towards prose or prose poem style. There are some nice images but they contradict each other and are too many...not being romantic but being romantic. Why is cynicism a sin? Etc
The most striking idea is that of comparing and introducing the great foods of autumn. That is the seed for an original poem that is about your experience. My take is to focus in on that
