Lost Love

By: Alex Tanner

Should I recall those blissful times
When we like climbing flowers entwined;
Our blossoms scented evenings air
As Love and Lust forsook our cares.

Your laugh was soft and gentle,
A butterflies wings in spring,
Dancing on the sunbeams
Enough to make me sing.

Eyes so bright they sparkled
Diamonds on moonlit snow;
Flashing hither and thither
To make my pulse race so.

We held each other gentle
Yet tight so not to break,
Though deep, our love could never last,
Different paths our lives would take.

For fleeting months we tarried,
Each time we met we knew
This may be the last time
For lovers hours are few.

If I love ten thousand women
Tis you I will recall;
You gave yourself so willing,
For your passion I did fall.

On black nights as the wind howls,
As I lie in a bed so cold,
Your soft voice echoes 'cross the years
To warm my lonely soul.

Rage

Covered by a a blanket of rage,
my heart knows no forgiveness.
I condemn the author of my pain
who has shred my life into pieces.

Cursed be the drunk driver who left me bleeding
after he rammed my future into a living nightmare.
No amount of cash can return my broken dreams!
The good life I painted in my mind is no longer there

people are strange

People are stupid,
People are dumb
this world is a cage
How far will you run?.

People are you,
People are someone
this world's a mirror
Are you holdin' a gun?.

Chasin' the bullets,
Are you gettin' numb?
this world is a circus,
When you're the strange one.

And so many whispers,
To count your scars
Ghosts are just people
Who have no heart.

Palestine...My Love (Stan's Contest)

The waftures tempt my heart, I think of thee.
Your murmurs lure to meet my comely one.
Redolent air, it calls the love in me
I stroll to bathe beneath the summer sun.

The sea, the shores, and every little shell,
the prayer calls evoke an endless love.
The thyme, the lime and grains of sand shall tell
how much I miss the petrichor thereof.

Ephemeral the joy-evanescent.
The nemeses defeat in me the zeal.
Deprived, alike an orphan- mostly sent
a broken heart, I turn no chance to heal.

Rendezvous

When you dream
do you kill me in your sleep?
When you wake
am I the thought that makes you weep?
When you walk
do you see me in your shadow?
When you speak
do you hear me in your echo?
When you breathe
do you feel me in your breath?
When we touch
do you know that I love you to death?

I read the journal you wrote
with your eyes and your soft, lullaby sighs
as you played me note for note
in your thighs and your soft, lullaby lies

The Tiny Dream

eyes crossed
tease dotted
stripes lost
tossed
and besotted
the bees lost
the eyes have it
blind as they may be

requited Rose

Roses never die
let alone weep

All my life
I have sung praises
for roses

O Rose,
do pose
with a rose

My Valentine
be mine
with a Rose...

and

on lapels of Kings and Queens
Ah! Many worlds’ ministers
Rose was the flower

Roses are never ever dead,
in the far phases of eternity
in sweeter memories
we all but roses see

We know now for certain
roses lay in library books
the original fragrance of
a memory of the one
who gave you
one

Aural Lotion

sweet nothings
after-glowing
glide
tenderly
mingling
love's sheen
like liquid starlight
dripping
fragrant
kisses
lingering
mid-air
fading
slowly
reluctantly
into sleepy
invisible
silence

s u b w a y v z i s t i o n

prone
lay low
the wind will crawl
and find you
skin and bone
a fixture
bathed in the cool television
flow
flowing cast on the ripples of
your spine curled inward
the stretch of ribs
undulating
to the sharp angled hip
tilted leaning
and beneath
the darkness
of the buffer floors
from the street
through the doors
you floated like a traveller
on a breeze
of frost
the chill in your teeth
as pure as a white
hour
overcast sunday

Finding You

fading..
like memories
kept in a bottle

changing..
the seasons
that slip by

remembering..
a love lost
through time

finding..
the simple truth
in love

breathing..
like years
that past by

echoing..
15 years
of co-existence
