urbanation

this sunset guillotine
with its silver smile
beneath the rambling storefront mile
the golden hills
forgotten ore mills
and Joshua trees
that shine their spines
on the low powered stars
that glide winking in the night
the coyote that beats the rabbits fright
the neons flicker
like the corner state inspection sticker
aching hunkered at the bar
drinking liquor
well a Rolla Wurlitzer spits out the weary
welcome miles
the friendly gals with their patented smiles

a sub bat tickle

a sub bat tickle

we all are simply
specks of emotions
falling down in tons
like the Niagara Falls
or
merging with the ocean
in Sydney
where friends I have many

dispensable are we all
short big or small

AND
most importantly
the root cause of unhappiness
is
seeing another man
with closed eyes

on top of the hill
with his superlatives
romping around him
may be
he has nothing
underneath....

Who needs sleep ?

When the noise of day recedes
in the shadowed graying light,
I see as the form and shape
distorts, an illuminated blight

The only things that seem
to hold our attention still,
is the moon and stars arising
over the height of the hill

The once brilliant sky becomes
Gods greatest form of art,
shimmering with their glowing
it would awe us from the start

Even with all that scares the mind
in the blackness of the night,
with the tiniest reach of chin
it cowers down from that sight

Three short longings..

1. Queen of the sea

Queen of the sea,
I could spell your name backwards
in a hurricane.

Bourne by an ill wind for certain doom,
I would still recall the soft
line of beauty

That leads from the irresistible
cornered lip,
to the impassioned emerald eye.

The preserving spirit of my age-
you are,
the last glorious thing

fixed in the field
of a falling mind,
tumbling through the memories in ecstasy.

2. Day upon day

a table for none

make no mistake
war is

what it was

savage a war as

these things tend to be

but these battles were not fought on the
sea, in the air or in
trenches on foreign soil

death reared its head in our
garages - kitchens - bedrooms
in our mirrors
where eyes locked in combat with time
until the second hand gave way
allowing history to write the future

stem

he heart cried fierce
the cage bellowed
the tamers whip
like conductors
lash
wept one wild
member
for an audience
too remember

...

the sin in suffering

If I could take away the pain
and make a story change track,
If it could stem the flow of tide
to chase the darkness to black

---

To see the devastating agony
that tears apart your soul,
here, I'll keen beside your body
wishing It could make you whole

Nobody deserves these losses
that heaped upon your door,
I know if I looked sometimes,
I'd discover you curling the floor

Startled

Awakened, startled late at night
by a strange and sudden sound.
An airplane crash? A chainsaw roaring?
Full wakefulness disspells all fright
for it's only Susan snoring.

A cross stitch of our time.

When all is quiet, and life cherished
has retreated from this storm

Of words that barricade in reason,
and deform that critic of fallacy, the soul

When once again, a hope can spring
into the step, and seed the words

That flow from you and I

And the province of human need,
leaves the provenance of lies

Behind us, and reason comes like breathing
not it's facsimile, the sigh

For now more than hawk-like,
dark and palpable beats of rookish wing

poet in you

A Poet’s appreciation

I appreciate the world
and
deserving ones always come first...
in my eyes there can be no surprise....
good poets like you ought to rise....
above the clouds 'tis my surmise ...

And
you have already broken all barriers
I see...
come join in poetry with me.

The sun has not set yet
poets here on the Internet
are the ones
who are definitely the best
and
of course one is you
