The stream (all workshops)

This is the stream - you can see all poems on Neopoet, live, as they are created.

It only comes once /re-write- (cliches workshop)

I ask you to be careful
keep it hush hush
it’s best they don’t know

Now they’ll see it
as nothing
in scheme of things

I am truly interested
to see the end of this

Just close your mouth
so it doesn’t come
toppling down

This way you’ll be free
to do as you please

Some evils are necessary
too do what you must

Steel yourself
for what is to come

Your about to embark
on something
that will be tough

NIGHTMARE IN RED

NIGHTMARE IN RED

And this girl with the blonde hair in the shiny red raincoat
He'd followed in silent but desperate chase,
Had never turned round once, but he hoped that she looked good:
For, somehow, he just had to look at her face...

Through roads and dark alleys, but always this dark night-
His mad world of nightmare had never known light-
And all was deep silence, except for the sound
Of her click-clacking high-heels, a-covering ground

Petrichor 3

we breathe the same air
but I'm not who you think I am
someone else is wearing my face
writing poems
in your sleep

over the mountain, the sun rises
lifting heavy eyelids of earth
it is morning, the dance begins,
the abalone night has fled with
beggars and thieves

the white lotus opens to reveal
the Buddha of Compassion
rising in a gown of crystal skin

Icc peel the onions and crack the eggs
straighten out the closet
in which we hide our dreams.

Silencing the Owls (Bugged by Workshop on Cliches)

Silence is golden
but this was a bizarre night
my mind was on a hot trot
thoughts running minute a mile

I wish I was at peace
not knocking the cover off the ball
by keeping my nose to the grindstone
with all hands to the pump aplomb

I was too blind to see
what the stars did fore tell
nothing but a chicken wing
was my forsaken fate

Luck as scarce as hen's teeth
despair deeper than the deepest ocean
hopes returning like a seven year itch
unmindful that Love is blind

I Morph Alone

My lone, solitary confinement
when surounded by a crowd,
feels very odd, and alienesque
and too much to be allowed.

For in the grandest scheme of things
my compass point's not true,
all this time I've relied upon
a certain honesty from you.

Fooled into believing
we were both on the same page;
the trust that I most cherished
had morphed into a hurtful rage!

The tendrils of time did trick me
and then reached around my back,
started squeezing the life from me
as if I were under attack!

Sepia Skies

send me away to where there's
cobblestone streets and sepia skies,
where promises become miracles of eternity,
and broken hearts are fairy tales.

i don't want to know this sour burning
in the place within my stomach
where it feels like my heart dropped
when this darkest revelation was uncovered.

there is no merciful escape in dreams,
for all my fears manifest in images
that awake me with moist pillow,
and heavy terror of what dawn will bring.

Fallen

It was love at first sight
Or so they say,
I lost my heart
So why give it Away.

He came unannounced
From the back of beyond
I couldn't believe my eyes!
Here was love,
Here was an angel in disguise

I made an ass of myself
When I was caught in the act -
Lurging forward as if to attack.
He smiled at me, to give me some slack.

So as with Adam
Who blamed it on Eve
I said my goodbyes
and took my leave!

OF ANCIENT INVIOLABLES - IKAAN

Some taboos in our tradition reveal
Not mere structures of steps and rites
In burial observances, crowning a king
Or passages in marriages and successions
But potent pillars of tacit family ties

The slaughtered cow or goat has rules
Household of the first son takes the head
The waist is sent to his maternal origin
The legs with contrariety attached
Like what the owl and the rabbit say:

rain

i.

you drew clouds
under my feet
to break my fall

only light
this side
of creation

salmon skies
embraced
your tenderness

ii.

I heard
your heart
calling

only love
will show
the way

let us
reconcile
this passion

before
it turns
to rain

and earth
swallows
our tears

goodbye
goodbye
we meet again.

CLICHES workshop poem :It only comes once

CLICHES workshop: It only comes once

It's all good<
Until you hurt some one
Keep it on the down low<
It’s best they don’t find out
It ain't nothing but a chicken wing<
When I look at the scheme of things

I am truly
Hot to trot<
To see what comes of this
A mile a minute<
You run your mouth
To many cooks spoil the broth<
Then plans fall apart
Silence is golden<
Just keep your trap shut
