And His Name Is Gee...

There's a fella that I know
goes by the name of Guy
His parents named him that
an Uncle's name is why

Hollered from across the street
it sounds very much like "Hi"
I'm not sure if they're calling me
or simply saying; "Bye"

It's been a source of pleasure
some ribbing and some jokes
especially with Canadians
and friendly "Frenchie" blokes

I went to work with a Frenchman
quite some time ago
He called me "Geezer", dude
and why? I want to know

He said; "You are a Gee",
I am at that, I said
I took third-grade French
[It's still in my head]

"Gee, Gee, goo-goo, gah...gah
He's a little baby"
I quit French, that same week
there was no "yeah or maybe"

Where do you get this Geezer from?
"Well, you're an older guy
There is calling of those people
"old geezers", that is why.

I liked this crazy Frenchman
we were pretty close, I guess
So now, when I'm called "Geezer"
I simply answer, yes?

True story?

Yep! That's the story in a "nutshell" as they say! When I joined Neo. and needed a screen-name, I claimed it as a testament to my friendship with my French-Canadian buddy! It wasn't the first time I heard "Gee" from a Frenchman, but the first that I
heard it as Geezer. ~ Geezer.

not a good match for most everyone. How about
if everyone just shows up at the door, whenever
they have a few free minutes?

I don't think that I can call you that without recalling your story, lol! this was an entertaining story, which I greatly enjoyed! do you still communicate with the man? don't tell me he has passed from this world, or it should make this tale more dear! I can't choose favorite lines because the chaff has been separated from the barley.

as I no longer work in the business of auto-detailing, but I am sure that he remembers and we could reconnect if I tried. He is a very driven man, and I don't know if he still is involved in the detailing part, but I'll bet that he is still in the auto-business in some way. In any case, if he ever hears of me as a poet, he will smile and remember that he is the one who gave me the name. ~ Geez.
