Mum... You and I

By: Rula

Together we witnessed time ebbs and tides:

we went through ups, we went through downs,

yet luckily we got each other's sides,

you and I, you and I.

Together, unwillingly, we grew old,

with devestating wrinkles, and white hair.

We both raised families, yet we're still bold

You and I, you and I.

Together we laughed, together we cried:

I uplifted your spirits, you got my tears wiped,

we stayed together, side by side,

You and, I you and I.

Together we lived for worse and better,

until Alzheimer's stole you, my bank of love,

although you promised to stay forever

You and I, you and I.

My Gold

By Mr joghe

In whom I spent my old days and nights,

Who rocked me in my cradle;

And fed my pretty mouth with a spoon,

Did weep while I should weep.

How much will I pay

For the pain you’ve taken for me?

Who worked that jumper to keep me warm;

Treated me with diffidence and respect,

Her healthy arms always be my stay,

And always admired my prudent face that filled with laughter.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

Who tired me with apology for being tiresome,

And asked twenty questions and never waited for an answer.

My timidity struck her at the first sight;

When she taught me to expect something extraordinary.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

I find such a pleasure

In obeying her commands,

That I take care to observe;

Shall soon come to bless me.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

I vow, I thought so;

Never, as among queens and princesses

In her age; to be explicit,

I’ve kept very little company

In pretty smooth dialogues with her.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

Her Shadow, in the Night

Within her eyes are starlight
and she held me with her glance,

the shadows formed her sillouette
don't think I ever had a chance.

The smokiness of her demeanor
feels like silk against my own,

yet the darkness of her mystery
soothed like the sweetest breeze that's blown.

So, I'll join her in her haziness
that surrounds my every care,

we'll share a time so intimate
it'll ward off all despair.

For, within her eyes are starlight
she held me tight, with but her gaze,

SUNSHINE SHOAL

reveal purposeless bask
the sun is upon us

myriad hunters
for a spell
turn your face to the power
that gives us all

for the moment

go back after
to the dealer
the bitch
the informant line
that sucks the drives

subversion
riding waves of control
of power

dull savagery playing
knife tricks
oiling barrels

hook me up an IV of the good
baby and never stop the flow
I'll come alive the monster
and restore the flow

THE SIMPLE THINGS

THE SIMPLE THINGS

The simple things employ my brain,
those things that others trip on,
those moments that just happen unawares,
they're there presented
and performed,
not for us,
not perhaps for anyone,
and yet when they're perceived they fill the mind,
the universe,

CORRIDORS

CORRIDORS

Down corridors angles sharp
flames flickering to dark
I tumble and fall
trying to reach an end
I crawl
scratching the ground
ripping at Time that has bound
me…

Lord, have mercy.

around the block

.
‘I need to find my room
you're new here aren't you?
I can't ask the nursing staff
if they think I'm getting lost
they'll want to transfer me to the locked section

pathetic

I wish I was a Catholic
in order to confess my sins
and remove my shameful deeds

or perhaps a Buddhist monk
this world's illusions torn away
and nothingness achieved

maybe many transmigrations
could teach a lesson or two
and drop me off the wheel

CLEAVAGE

Man, look at that cleavage there!
large pale globes just bulging out
inviting everyone to stare,
whistle, perhaps even shout.

Do you think the cleavage folks
purposely expose their goods
leading to such crude lewd jokes
about their large and jiggly goods?

The tee shirt's not quite up to task
the cloth's too sheer and not too tough
which kinda leads most folks to ask
what fabric would be strong enough?

How many priceless moments life does show,

adored enough for us to store with gold,

yet brief they stay and leave us lone, to hold

our hearts and make their ills and sorrows grow.

Alas, how often hearts seek lasting glow,

imperfect joy and earthy lusts that mold

and rot then set our suns and moons less bold

forgotten and entombed with all they owe.

Yet wait, there’s still a hope for me and you

when heavens bid immortal life for us

with more eternal joy and happy times.

Book Of Pain (Part One )

...And the Dragon sheds the last tear,
His happiness an illusion.
Driving promises of lies told to self,
Unbearable,
unbelievable,
unrelentless pain,
self-inflicted for my soul's humility.
It is a sad thing
when there is no-one to blame.
Packaged
and sold against self imprisonment
and denial,
pulsing veins of blackest sin.
My scales absorb the pain as my teeth
grind fault loudly,
making damn sure my ears
carry every word and feeling of betrayal
to my inner core of emotion.

Gift of the Land

red earth
and golden shrubs
majestic roots
and kindred bark
in which was carved
the initials of the hand
that held the blade
and the mouth that starved
for the gift of the land
a jewel made
to quench the thirst
and hunger fade
into a delicate burst
of yellow orange delight
succulent love of the sunlight,
in the heat of a boiling breeze
shadowed by the leaves
breath comes in ease
steadfast and trusting
its branches ever lusting
to reach the sky
