Peanut Butter and Grape Koolaid
Peanut Butter and Grape Kool aid
Cool breeze from the fan
Is too cold for my skin
My body starts to ache
News reports from my laptop
Debt ceiling, shutdown, Obama care
Is all reporters talk about
In this dark dim room
Glowing red
From my black mini lamp
My first granddaughter
Sits by my side
Her head rests on my breast
Few minutes earlier
She was hyperactive
Playing Beyoncé on my iPad
My four feet walking cane
As if a microphone
She sings "1+1"
Running back and forth to the refrigerator
She begs for peanut butter
To go with her grape Kool aid
Saddened by her grandad's word
No!
She sleeps in my arms

Thanks Scott
I'm practicing on showing my poetry instead of telling it. Saying its 'Nicely painted' gives me confidence that I did okay. Thanks for commenting and sharing.

Very nice! You have captured
Very nice! You have captured a cherished moment - which tells a story - not only about your family relationships but about modern life as we know it!
Loved it! for that reason.
Love Mand xxxx

Thanks Mand
I wanted to practice showing the moment instead of telling about it the moment. My intent was to capture the reader attention and keep them wanting more.
Storytelling is a talent I fall short at.
Thanks for reading and sharing.
