The Veiled Woman

Say not that the muslim woman is caged
by the veil that she wore for she is liberated
from the lustful eyes of men which stir
sinful desires in their hearts.

The veil is not an oppression to her
It identifies her as a modest woman of faith
It is her commitment to her religion
which will protect her from hellfire

As she veiled her physical beauty ,
the chances of falling prey
to rapers who wish to dominate
and molesters whose hands stray for a moment
are greatly reduced for women like her
and their safety is more ensured.

I have never felt "caged" with the veil myself. It in fact identifies my dignity.
It tells everyone that I am a muslim and I am proud to be. It also warns others
to play any filthy games away from me. It shows many things. It is more than
a piece that covers the head or my physical beauty.
It is a shame that many don't recognize this fact even some Muslim women.

However, I wished that you have diffrentiated between two terms here, "molester" and "rape",
for there is a big difference if you get my point.

PS. lustful eyes of men which stir[s].........should be "stir"?

Thanks for sharing this precious piece brother.

What I aimed Khalid.
I wanted to say that nothing would prevent the rapers to assault a veiled Muslim as well as a none veiled one as it is some kind of sickness and hatred in him rather than the molster who dowes what he does as a result of temptation from the woman's side in one way or another.
Does this make any sense.

I see. Now here's the problem. I don't know how to bring that out in this piece. Not yet, but I'll think about it. hmmmm.

I appreciate your sharing the thoughts about use of Veil. However, I feel you need to give this write a poetic tilt. In its present form it reads more like a blog. Of course that's my opinion. You need to wait till others comment.

Okay I just need to find out from you. How do you define a free verse- styled poem.
