The Time Trusters

I spied him briefly you know.
I'm of course referring to my muse,

and from what they say, (I'm on a need to know basis because there are many things I don't need to know.)
he simply bolted upright, got to his feet, and then headed straight for my brain;

where, I might add...he's been causing havoc ever since!
But, I digress; and quite simply try to do and look my best all of the time.

I have regular days where I do fall a "tad" short;
whatever a tad, is. It must be some increment of vague measure,

kind of like a "moment", compared to a minute.
At any rate, here I sit, (for what it's worth); and I have but, one regret in my life, that seems to enjoy re-occurring;

and I'm positive you'll know what I'm referring to.
Do you rmember a time when, someone would ask, "Where's the party?", or "Let's go skinny-dipping!"?

Well, there was always one kid that wouldn't follow suit with all the others;
and it was usually because he'd either get in big trouble, didn't have his inhaler,

or was afraid his Mom would hear of it and then the "big trouble" thing really would come to fruition!
Well, I regret all of those times I was that little boy...or wasn't quick enough to come back with the right "quip"!

So after all is said and done, those are the moments I ponder.
I'm always wondering, "What if?"....and there's really no going back.

If you can relate...or was ever that little scared kid...even just once;
then, that's too many!

You need simply to know this: Your mortal enemy is, "Time"...and she's very cunning!
Considering the fact that,you'll never see enough of her,

she will not wait for anyone, and once she's gone....you're left alone to wonder, or complain about events!
So, use her wisely, and use her like you would an allie.......one, of course...that you trust.

Especially, if you don't....because, we all know to keep our allies close, and our enemies even...closer!

I'm sorry i can't help with the prose, but i enjoyed the read. I think we've all been that kid at sometime in our life, and will maybe always remember a moment of hesitation we regret now. Regards Roscoe..

Roscoe Llane,

Religion will rip your faith off, and return
for the mask of disbelief that's left.

...now, I regret trying to write this thought out in prose!
Thanx for reading AND commenting on the read.
sincerely,
doc.

Doc, you know I am not fond of a lot of your structured work but this prose poem really works for me as poetry. It is honest and insightful.

Just my usual two complaints: too many commas and the last two stanzas would be better with "we" instead of "you".

cheers,
Jess

...do you remember the poem I wrote quite a while back about the Rainbow? Well, your comment helped me more than any piece of praise, or compliment, or anything!
What you said was that, I just sort of sounded like I was just talking to one of my "mates". Well, that's all I try to do now, with prose or freeform. Thanx for that.
sincerely,
doc.
