Digging cigarettes from the tin
(taste like ashes...taste like this)
Memory of chewing Pez
from Mickey Mouses one Eared Head
Legs of hers propped long and proud
Painting nails with the scale Paint
Hemi orange like Tangerines
around the player Hard Rock screams
an eight trax mix Loud and Obscene
(In the bottle vibing max..the glory gold of
tasty Jack!)
Chevy jacked
Balogna Slicks
Blew out the air
through country sticks
A tail drumming in the wind
a bauble dog doing his tricks
(We shot the curve doing Lickety
splits)
It weren't always days of grey
salacious Mutiny and drudge
(Hell man we were young and High
back then we jumped to touch that
sky)
now were just low and mean
behind the patched up summer
screen
regretting all that might have been
(But I still got the numbers all
to hear the sighing misted spies
when I punch the music by
and by...call her up forgetting
why....Rock and Roll Baby ...
we never goes home..)

I played this on casette one summer minding this crazy place..
until I went crazy from the isolation..Guess Im not too anti social
or Hermit bound after all!!

Grew up with the bad boyz...okay not that bad...talents with a wrench
more like...Mickey Thompson drag tires....cut out tubbed rear ends
under old two door granny mobiles with dumped in bored out..
turbo kitted small blocks.....Speed was bad...but a hell of a lot of
fun! I never had much of a Hot Rod...a three Oh two in a mid size
mercury two Door Zephyr...cut off the exhaust and stuck on a basic
Cherry Bomb muffler...Drove it like a standard on the automatic
heavy duty that came with the eight! Before this it had a four..
sounded like a stock car!! When I was dating I only drove the
huge old luxury liner sedans...Or three hundred six Pretty and Cute
truck as my sister called the Ford Step side factory tricked...
I ran everything as stock as I could to not draw the heat like the
polished aluminum or suicide rims!

The girls I dated were pretty....and bright...Taught me how to play
cards...they smoked Players! or cigars...exotic aromatic little
wonders they shared now and then!
Just to blow out of town and get some air in our hair...
do the Tango...They loved the soft pocket spots in the landscapes
Meadows and quaint turn arounds....
good memories!!

a good album of Bruce's was called NEBRASKA...I loved that one..
and just recently found a fifties singers many of the later great
white boys sang a few years after...Big Momma Thorton! Did
Hound dog for instance.....As I age and get more mature the
music I like also is the same venue now! In a way Im glad...I remember
going to the dopers lair parties....Jack Daniels and Muddy Water
Robert Johnston on the stereo....They were super bright people
My age....I just didnt grasp the gist of the music till now...
One was a math tech designing trusses for housing and industrial
apps for a company just recently hit hard times due to the
lack of lumber....The mills moved further north or went to Quebec
whose provincial funding backed the technology advances...
A lot of the tech work went Quebec way too! way it is...

I used to do covers for the Art Magazine they produced...short
stories and quizzes....Poetry and drawings!!
Aberations or something...I always mispelled it on the covers..
Did that for a summer.....was pretty cool!

Cadillac Ranch was another song his band did...
I remember Robbie the cook driving out of the beer store
on his Goldwing! his stereo on that huge ride bouncing
along....

characters we were.....When the province was way more wild
then it is now!!

the front end was very heavy...prone to fish-tailing...I put heavy bags of kitty litter in the trunk. the kitty litter was handy for use under the wheels to get un-stuck in the winter time, lol!

who was that..Beach boys?
it was the rock group Blondie that had a photo
by Chris Stein, a member..
I like a lot of his photo still on facebook
..in the black and white photo book
and color there was a photo of one
of their music buddies filling up his car
It was a sixty seven...looked mint
and had no hudcaps...just bar rims
thought that was so cool
My old mechanic said my 1977
4dr mercury cougar looked 'horny'
with the rims that way....I didnt get
the meaning..i knew it wasnt sex
he said....'tough...like a goat..
horny' I like the gm designs of that
era very much...Love the gran parisienne
or the 2+2.... what did your car have
under the hood for a power plant
and or tranny? I would imagine they
be light..like the Le Mans...
kitty litter was a sound idea...
Oh black interior and that sixties
sparkly paint fleck gloss paint
factory.....incredible'

So i happened to peak at what Cat had to say, and when she mentioned 'Glory Days' and you reminded her it's by Bruce Springfield I needed to refresh my memory....it didn't take long! Been a while since I've heard the song but the minute I did and read the lyrics, I had to agree with Cat. This poem does in fact, bring the song to mind! Loved your reference to Pez...I used to love it and when my kids were young, I can't begin to count how many different Pez holders they received (maybe even a 'Mickey Mouse one eared one)....of course from me...LOL! One quick thought and it could be how I'm reading this but just before your last few lines there's one reads 'now were just low and mean...' should the 'were' be 'we're'? Not a big deal, just thought I'd ask, otherwise, all good and am glad you shared this!

Best wishes to you Mr. Wolf

god..my writing form is atrocious....U are correct...We're....were...where..wheen...wuz
waddaup..wuh! horrible lexicon....they used to laugh...its like you beat your poem into
shape with a ball peen hammer!! (Loved the Matt Groen Cartoon where Homer builds
his back yard barbeque and it turns out all mashed and the art lady puts him on tour!!)
Pez was cool...I still dig the candy dispensers..Now a quarter but U still get a mittful!!

Thank U! Val!

So i had to watch the video of Homer's barbeque and the how the art lady was so impressed by it. Very funny indeed...thanks for pointing that out! Pez, 25 cents now....guess with the cost of living on the rise, I'm not surprised. Maybe I'll have to revisit them, of course with a cool dispenser to retrieve them from! I vow to never grow up...always allow the kid in me to play an active role in my life!
As far as your writing form, it may not always be easy to follow all your thoughts but, atrocious....nay that's a bit extreme! How you write is part of who you are...and that's a positive thought!

Goodnight Mr. Wolf!
