THE COFFEE IS COLD

I pour a cup of hot coffee
not my favorite beverage
But like the warmth it brings
I sit and consider life

I never come to any conclusions of merit
and the coffee always turns cold
no longer able to give me comfort
Is it possible that this could cause depression?

Depression stops the creative flow, you know
I am full of creative ideas
I just don't know how to find the things

Like Walter Mitty, I can do wonderful
feats in my mind
Poetry,prose of rambling
I cannot tell, I have lost

my cup of stimulate
no longer able to comtemplate

I think I will heat up my brew
and rethink this write through

I would have liked to edit this piece further, but the site won't let me, I still can not to where I want to function properly. had to type this one 3 times as it kept going away saying page was no longer available. OH, well, coffee is definetly cold.

my computer sometimes plays up and drops me off sites (but i'm more often inclined to blame the site lol)

i always type my poems and comments in word then cut and paste
it takes less time and there is less chance of dropping off and losing it all

'Each for the joy of the working, and each, in his separate star,
shall draw the Thing as he sees It, for the God of Things as They are.'

Linda -I'm not sure if this was where you were going -but another stanza could erase the doubt if you like the suggestion. You have here a metaphor of life. We start out warm robust and full of flavor and end up cold and biter to one extent or another.

will try and make needed corrections, maybe not a good night for me to post Thanks, LInda

an interesting and fun contemplation
lol – I think they do go together – cold coffee and depression - or at least it becomes a hindrance to creative activity
did you know the smell of coffee is supposed to be what is good for us, not the drinking
I adore the smell – I take huge whiffs every morning like a snort junkie lol

a couple of tiny nits - imho I stress
there are a lot of ‘I’s in the first two stanzas…
also a lot of 'coffee's throughout

and
‘Poetry or prose, rambling or anger?
Since I am not prone to anger’
'anger' repeated very close here – perhaps you could use another word for one ?

and typo?
‘feets in my mind’ (feats)

I like the internal rhyme in
‘Depression stops the creative flow, you know’
and I really love the final line -
‘Maybe I'll warm up the coffee’

thanks for sharing

actually, I was drinking coffee, and it did turn cold. and it seemed something I needed to comment on for whatever reason.

I hope they fix my site soon, still have black bank over half my screen, maybe won't try and post anything serious until it if fixed. too frustrating.

On your other submission Jim left a fix for you but I
couldn't find it this morning, it seems to be gone ... but
I believe the fix was a simple one, update your browser,
I believe he said he had the same problem with Internet
Explorer, try updating whatever browser you are using, and
if that doesn't work, try another one, Firefox, Safari and
Chrome are free to download.

My husband says he just updated the browser, still no change. I think I will go gor the conspiracy theory, the problem started after I mentioned Federal Reserve. lol. have no problems anywhere else on this computer. Just neopoet. However no MIBS on the roof, yet.

I scanned the comments and did not see it.

James Thurber wrote about the delightful Walter Mitty not Middy. Certainly an easy error to make since most pronounce it Middy.

Thank you for bring ole Walter to mind. I loved him as a kid and still do.

Thank you, I never even realised I had misspelled the name. thanks for reading and your comments

great edit
- especially the move to rhyme in
'my cup of stimulate
no longer able to comtemplate
...I think I will heat up my brew
and rethink this write through'

and i do like it better without the amish reference...
