Neopoet Weekly 06/09/24 to 06/15/24 Winner!

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

Abandoned

By:  Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

Summer Image Prompt Challenge-Sailing

By: Hon

In the sailing wind blow
pacing along with the flow
feeling at ease and contented
under the vast blue sky
the spray of the fresh air
embarking on a new journey
traveling miles far apart
carrying with a curious mind
awaiting for a new opportunity
embracing with a sense of hope
bringing with an emotional ride
through many different stages
at the endless spending time
finding own destination
with each tale of the story
comes with lessons
instilled with the thought
life is a learning experience
that takes where it goes
a place that holds special
to the heart that embraces
like home

Neopoet Weelky 06/02/24 to 06/08/24 Winner!

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Something New

Rain rushes from the skies
Mixing with a single tear
The wind cuts through
Like every doubt, every fear

Lightning shatters my peace
Like the pieces of my mind
A distant thunderclap mocks
Of the girl I was and left behind

A tornado rages in my head
Demolishing my peace and joy
I plaster on a smile for you,
But it's just a tactic I employ

The fear paralyzes my heart
Yet I'm so tired of being afraid
It is time to get up and fight
Before my resolve starts to fade

My fingers curl around my sword
I lift it high, I've got my armor on
I bring it down with all my strength
Until the shattered pieces are gone

There is no fixing the girl I was
No use in buying time with glue
The only solution is to shatter her
And forge with fire Something New

My Love.....

Tell me why the sky is blue
why am i falling for you
im scared of getting hurt i dont want to get burnd .
my heart is like glass once u break it you can never fix it
im cautious. i try and try to get you out of my mind its hopless
like a blade rusted into the earth its impossible to get rid of thats
my love for you impossible to get over so let consume.
I may be shy but not with you
i may be scared but only for you
my love is so strong nothing can break it
only you.
Dont be scared to love me

FADING INTO OPAQUE--updated

FADING INTO OPAQE rewritten]
It was yesterday
I thought
I felt your breath
touch my hair
your heart beat inside
mine
and your eyes speak
of love’s fire …but
for another
I spend my nights
alone
and lonely are my dreams.
But as time rushes by
you begin to fade
into opaque
and I break
to lose you again

ABUSED ABUSER

I think of the trouble you put me through
And all the pain that leaves me blue
I think of the time I waste to grieve
And all the love you failed to give

I think of her; my guardian angel, stood aloof
She was too scared to tell the truth
I think of me in that dark, stinky room
Cold wind sweeping concrete floor like a broom

The rage in your eyes; who were you mad at?
Yourself, your destiny or this damned earth?
Do I help ease your pain when you see me cry
After I drag myself out from the dark corners of that sty?

and feathers fell from the magnolia tree

A small dog
nips
the morning silence
and the street
comes alive
with hands

purpose
breaks
into fever,
something
to do, somewhere
to go,
hurry, hurry the day

I get despondent,
now and then,
this isn't the world
I wanted to imagine,
my sophistry
melding an ancient art

last night
we were Buddhas
trying on each other's masks,
we plunged into ecstasy,
we hovered like angels
above our bodies

Sunken Ships

Rush, rush, the sound of waves,
Eager to fill the anxious bay,
Meet with a sweet thrust,
Recede back into the salty mist,
The ocean’s voice is found,
As a whirlpool circles ‘round,
Scattering seashells across the floor,
Like sandy memories of tides before,
Sunshine sets the blue aglow,
And lights forgotten harbors down below,
Of wreckaged ghosts so forelorn,
That they shall never return to shore.

Negation

Pessimism ,
distraught minds
two in one
should upon each others shoulders display,
some sense of consolation
and
admiration
but
not only sadism relay
Positivity ought to be the aim
Of lovers two,
how I wish
that new ones knew

BOY SOLDIERS’ GAME

Some boy soldiers in pastime played
On seeing a pregnant woman
Then argued amongst themselves
On sex and gender of fetus
Unborn Liberian in the womb

One said to the other, pointing
It is a boy in there, I bet
Another countered, it is a girl
The debate reached a crescendo
They resolved to check out crudely

Insanity drove the dispute
Diminutive diminuendo
A double edge machete in hand
Sliced up the belly in cold blood
Killing the woman right away

s e h n s u c h t

d r e h e n

riven a glass dressed in rains
the slow dance
the damp hell vice
upon a fire soul blazing

steam and wet desire
twin of night
twin of day

twas want for both
I long for play
the perfume of
the de ja vue

Burn

I guess it’s over now
But what else can I expect?
All of those days you left me
Waiting on your front door steps
There’s no point in asking how
So here’s my heart for hire
I’ll look until my eyes roll back
Until I find that fire

Burn

I’m going up in flames
To ashes in the air
All my life was cold and now
It seems like you don’t care
This heat is getting heavy
Pressure on my head
You meant to call my name
You said “lover” instead
