stringent moths
weave waves
of shiny holes
Like breath
evaporating
in these mists
burning cold
and flooding
in the murk
Glass eyes
that always
see against
the shade of
time
Lashes trickling
through green
framed screens
rivers of golden
sun leaking
to the floors
a tannin tea
a bottom of
antique urge
where floor
boards shift
with the weather
in waves
nudging dreams
in lace stirred
night

no tears for
fears
the house's
ears
hear every
whimper
know every
cure

when the
winds stride
through copper
poles like
orhtodox crosses
moaning like
distressed angels
no blinks
no tears
immured
a watchers
immune eyes
these gallery
rouges
stilled in
their gaze

waiting
waiting
waiting
game

as gentle
as the poppies
bow
surrendered
by the
mornings
crow

Excellent, reading your work always gives a new or different perspective. Regards Roscoe...

Roscoe Llane,

Religion will rip your faith off, and return
for the mask of disbelief that's left.

was not sure if this would work or not...Not even going to give my usual
spoilers on what it is even about...poetry is a journey! we all feel
see things..have different experiences with its route!

Another of you great journey's, one line I thought may be clichéd was:- no tears for fears, but looking it up to see where I had heard it before, well it was a Pop group over here some time ago so I think it can go as is lol.
Take care and know we watch for your works,
Yours Ian..

It is a cliche term
I put it there
not sure why
I know I think deep enough.
the band was avante garde
part of the post war post
beatles...cold war season
of the eighties..

to explain this one! It's a lament of days gone by and the numbness that sets in as we realize that nothing ever changes. I think that it just happens to be the theme lately, you just say so differently! You are something of an avante garde yourself. ~ Gee.

There is value to commenting and critique, tell us how you feel about our work.
This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

I was in a routine feeling the worlds resulting woes..although I dont write of them..I watch the news...thankfully we have enough friends here in our family of poets and my real time contacts too shake the blues....reminds me of the eighties in a way the over all world feeling....
Thank U...and U are avante gaurd too...still love ur paintings and your view on your works..
a great voice Gee!

In the same verse as tears for fears, man you must have had the radio on :) - "Mad World" in a poppy pappy age of faceless plastic gods - was a real gem of a song, paradox in the delivery, funny how the re-interpretations got better (think Donny Darko version, can't remember who..)
Anyway, I digress, this skipped along, felt effortless, like you were sketching in the clolour was flooding in, the room was filled with creaking reality and the sense of warmth - and then the page was printed.

Great read.

Cheers.

The Cure...I never paid any attention to music..people..lyrics...movies..had too be taught how to understand a movie...parts of my head...nothing sticks..like me..."i'm teflon"
but saw "Love Cats" and liked Robert Smith..didnt even know he was in Siouxsie Siouxs band
....Mad World has so many crazy covers now...kinda like Goodbye Horses..Gimme Shelter..
Im glad that I finally get music now at this age and people...its like a brand new focus!! The Smiths still going..."The devil will find work for idle hands too do..." and "Ouija Board" I like the tube clerk ghost..very campy! and the seer lady!! Busy doing housework at my place and my Ladies here..my laundry from there..sheets..bedroll...in the big packsack...drive over was nice..hot but in the shade on the trails its pleasant! And I dont have coffee there..just tea....Writing is something isnt it....all that I wrote above existed! I was there!!! ha....I am still reading ur poem about your creek coming back too life.....sometimes writing a comment takes time! But I enjoyed it! its very elevated...Like ArcadeFire music....just a little above my speed! nothing wrong with it! thankU!

but I haven't got a stitch to wear..! Yes for a gritty Manchester in the early 80s with bands like The Fall (whooa, hit the north!) and Joy Division, Morrisey was writing like a latter day Oscar Wilde.."I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour/But heaven knows I'm miserable now"...ahh glorious!

I like the bands that go the extra mile on lyrical craftsmanship. One of the great unsung heroes of the Antipodes, are a humble bunch of musicians from Hobart called "Augie March" (yes, named after the book by Saul Bellow) - they tried to crack the US, and that Sysyphean task was captured in this great little song "Cold Acre", literally "pushing their rock uphill":

Really poetry in motion.

Then came "One Crowded hour" - which reads like one of the classics, and more pythonesque humour:

A gem, lyrics more poetic and tightly woven, like Johhny Cash and Nick Cave had a love child:

Should you expect to see something that you hadn't seen
In somebody you'd known since you were sixteen
If love is a bolt from the blue,
Then what is that bolt but a glorified screw
That doesn't hold nothing together?

I had no idea what I was doing in my teens....I fought my shyness..social awkwardness and my rebellious spirit by dressing like the punks...today the standard rigor but then it was loud
which I still embody..Someone has too be different! I had but CBC radio which played brave new waves...a program I recorded too eight track from the radio..then drove about our litle small minded conservative towns...still...in the Mustang Hatchback.seventy five wearing my american knock off aviator leather....shades....hipster shoes and shirts pants.....eventually I found my girl..a brilliant soul going to the top...introduced me to Bowie...she thought I was the cats meow! teachers loved me because despite my academia failings I was bright behind the cluttered dysfunction and drew cartoons.....caused ruccous when I could...and drew the other bright sparks together....not too lead or cajole but like here on Neo...get the motors idling....working..restoring...wanting them all too flank left...flank right..see ..experience...enjoy..I did have a friend who had wealthy friends who always hit the concerts in toronto...brought bootleg tapes of all the then top end happening bands....My little brother listened to CHUM FM..a hard rock station from Toronto....I listened to WOWO FORT WHAYNE INDIANA at night...Larry King and then the top edge of New Wave....My brother liked the rock....I liked the pop and new wave..But I wrote his letters to tool company's for warranty items broken...Like a tape measure by Stanley Tool company....dropped one he did while roofing...I typed him a beautiful letter..>Dear Stanley!...and CHUM FM for a camaro give away..we sent the letter one day late...they in turn sent us a beautiful letter in return....Love that kind of thing....Like me my brother is a painter carver..artist and hard little bastard out there making it..Loves his wife and fam.. I put up with mine and they put up with me...why I live alone....Like George Thorogood and the Destroyers song...(had this album) I prefer too drink alone!!!
But late eighties my friend had all the top english bands and the UK hits too...Send me And Angel...great song...Blue Monday....etc.....I re found all of this in the mid two thousands when after a twenty year absence....I re found some mixed tapes in horrible shape and wondered....is anyone listening too this old music....2004/2005/// had a shitty computer...no one was listening then to much of much...interwebland was brand new....2007 I paid almost two thousand for a computer monitor printer..cd disc reader....rom burning etc..all since comprimised and kaput...but for awhile got Bearshare...a virus breeding hub bub..but got all the disc music in mid two thousands for my disc walkman...who remembers those??? and now today...everything can be found on the net....all the old styles are back.....movies are cool...books reprinted..ebay and paypal can get U anything U loved during your kid years...adulthood and beyond.....Morrisey is still going....Patti smith....Marianne faithful...Love her old crackly voice...Metallica etc...a lot packed it in..pills and alcohol dont mix......my old chums I was in high school with and a tad before we got to high are here in my city....Dr Preston..a quirky trophy wife blue suited plastic surgeon who reminds me of a cross between Isle of Dr Moreau and others....is still going....He has a blue suit.bamboo glasses..I was in holding for ten days in jail...my smart street buddy next too me noticed this..He called Preston Dr Joker.....But Preston was good too me......so much politics in our city...but thats the fun of it.......In art class was a female from a wealthy lumber family...she was a seargent at the local police station....where they dragged my ass in many times....Im a chronic drunk...the Otis of Andy of Mayberry.....but...Im bright...see behind the curtian of Oz...and hang out with Dorothy and the Witch with her flying Monkees...tweaking both systems....On Twitter I am loving the intelligencia there.......like here.....we are all creative and bright....do not stagnate but Create!!! my motto...thank U for the comments.....New Zealand is amazing......I like Ur classical background...keep up the good work Chris!!!
