Poem: Sola Scriptura

Hidden layers of meaning,
completely permeate The Word;
they’re found by spiritual eyes
and a desire for absolute Truth-
to overcome the enemy’s lies.

Take time to study the Bible
and its many, divine precepts.
Embrace them with your heart;
learn lessons from others’ pain;
keep life from falling apart.

Be led by the true Love,
behind the scarlet thread;
for God identifies His own,
by the principles found…
in the Scriptures alone.

Hidden layers of meaning,
completely permeate The Word;
they’re found by spiritual eyes
and a desire for absolute Truth-
to overcome the enemy’s lies.

God, if there was one,
lies and it is proven,
his son, himself teaches love
yet condones the stoning slaughter
of your adulerous daughter,
though he may say "cast not the first stone"
he also says
All those scriptures must be true
Jesus says so himself,
don't pick and chose from olden laws
Thou Shall Not Ignore the Old Testament!
“For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:18-19

Take time to study the Bible
and its many, divine precepts.
(and its evil)
Embrace them with your heart;
learn lessons from others’ pain;
(and cause that pain with your intolerance)
keep life from falling apart.
(whilst making sure that the lives of others do)

Life will fall apart for sure
if we make fabric of different thread
and it says quite clearly
all witches must be dead

Be led by the true Love,
behind the scarlet thread;
for God identifies His own,
by the principles found…
in the Scriptures alone.

Written by bronze-age barbarians in the Middle East
there is nothing to learn since,
prove it by Googling it.

So Deuteronomy 25:11-12
11 If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, 12 you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.

Jesus approves of slavery! Matthew 18:25: "But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made."

Thall shalt not be a cherry-picker!
Even the "good" values and philosophies attributed to the bible can be found in earlier philosophies and religions. It is not just plagiarism, it is an evil book that condones every crime committed by humanity.

BUT WORST OF ALL, THE GREATEST, EVIL, THE MOST DESPICABLE LIE, IS THE NOTION OF "ORIGINAL SIN". BABIES KNOW NOTHING OF SIN, HATRED, RACISM, LGBT INTOLERANCE. THEY ARE TAUGHT ALL THESE EVIL NOTIONS BY RELIGION.

This is not even a good poem. It is a list of instructions, with some rhyme.

Please note, that although this critique attacks the proselytism of the poem itself, it is not a personal attack on you. I bet you are a really nice person who never stones anyone to death. It is your choice to believe in a vengeful, jealous god who created the opportunity for sin, then drowned most of his creatures when they fell for it, then raped a virgin to become a human, then did nothing to stop himself getting crucified to save people from the sins he set them up for.

Addendun: The internet re-opens the path for communication between all people that God prohibited to stop the building of the Tower of Babel. So it is a sin to use the internet.

I knew you had to be the first commenter on this poem, elf. ;-)

I have one comment about the poem. Absolute truth - if you happen to study history and the evolution of different religions you'd realize that you might be better off using different wording. :-D Don't be too disappointed if the poem subject matter isn't well received. There are number of us on this site that don't believe in the Christian faith.

That being said, you tried too hard to get the poem to say what you wanted it to and the flow of the poem reflects that. If you're going to rhyme, it would probably be a good idea to make it every other line rhyme to tie it together a little bit better. But that's just my two cents.

It is such a secret place, the land of tears. ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
