THE PESSIMIST

Pessimistic. Referendum 2014 - SCOTLAND

One more day, the Runes are cast.
One more day, then peace, at last.
Which politicians told most lies?
I doubt we’ll ever know.
But who would curb my Scotland’s rise
Had best lie low.

Freedom is our Northern light,
It brings a luminescence bright.
Some comfort in the autumn’s chill,
As leaves are slowly turning.
We must accept the voters’ will,
Yet feel the salt tears burning.

One more day, then in the past
Lie broken hopes for freedom; dashed
Westminster swine will eat their fill
Of Scottish Independence dreams
For me, I hope for Freedom, still
And never hear the nightmare screams.

Tam, what can i say, well written poem. Regards Roscoe...

Roscoe Llane,

Religion will rip your faith off, and return
for the mask of disbelief that's left.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I suspect the damage wasdone by the oldies who voted with their wallets as soon as the lies started to be circulated about the currenc.y.

The internal turmoil is vividly expressed caused by dreams of independence dashed due to ulterior motives of the destroyers. Yet, the poem also expresses resignation and sadness about an opportunity lost but keeping the belief in the dream alive.

Raj, your comment shows a deep understanding of the poem's need to be expressed. So far no permanent damage to our society is evident. Thanks for your comment.

A great write on the situation.
We have just seen the greatness of Scotland and it's people.
I will only say this it is going to be a very stupid Westminster that disregards the vote that has just taken place.
I for myself can only say I am glad that you are not separate from our union, but still hold that your views and vistas must be acknowledged, your people can never be taken for granted and woe betide the UK government that thinks it can do so,

.
There are a million reasons to believe in yourself,
So find more reasons to believe in others..

From one Ian T to the other; This whole episode is not about Scotland V England, but rather the need for England to divest itself of the last of its colonial past and stand up for democracy. We are all being very badly governed by a thicket of ex-public schoolboys. Thanks for caring.
