Lost Love.

Should I recall those blissful times
When we like climbing flowers entwined;
Our blossoms scented evenings air
As Love and Lust forsook our cares.

Your laugh was soft and gentle,
A butterflies wings in spring,
Dancing on the sunbeams
Enough to make me sing.

Eyes so bright they sparkled
Diamonds on moonlit snow;
Flashing hither and thither
To make my pulse race so.

We held each other gentle
Yet tight so not to break,
Though deep, our love could never last,
Different paths our lives would take.

For fleeting months we tarried,
Each time we met we knew
This may be the last time
For lovers hours are few.

If I love ten thousand women
Tis you I will recall;
You gave yourself so willing,
For your passion I did fall.

On black nights as the wind howls,
As I lie in a bed so cold,
Your soft voice echoes 'cross the years
To warm my lonely soul.

a well crafted poem with many poetic elements.
the beats, between 6 to 8 in each line gave a smooth rhythmic read. the rhymes did not seem weak, (meaning rhymes for rhyme sake), but seem relevant to the thought.

Thank you for your comments. I always try to get a good rhyme as I feel it draws the reader in and holds their interest. I'm pleased you commented on this. Thank you again, Alex.

Thank you MM. It's not about anyone I know. I am fortunate in that I never lost my love and we have been together for well over 50 years. Alex.

Hello Alex.

A wonderfully crafted poem that I suspect captures the story many of us have experienced.

Now married for 55 years, many years ago there was that one.

Thank you for a most enjoyable journey down memory lane. - Will

Thank you William. so pleased to give you happy memories. Alex,
