Frenemies Forever
My kookaburra friend still whispers in my ear sometimes and sometimes slaps me aside the head
when I least expect to expect it. Wtf are you thinking Anna? Don't you know I'm still paying attention
this side of a shaman's dream?

I would guess...
that Jess would have thought this quite funny. I know he didn't believe in an after-life, but I think that he was wrong.
I do believe that so long as someone remembers, he will live! Nicely done. ~ Geez.

Nicely done! Like the "least
Nicely done! Like the "least expect to expect it" line. Grief is like that, coming for visits unexpectedly, and often in waves.

Hi stranger
It seems even the kookaburras cried
in their silent grief
as if their only friend had died
and they had no relief
on the day that the elf died
