THE DEATH OF CAESAR

Why did Caesar have to die?
And why did Brutus have to play a hand in it?
Gods know how I have hated him for it
How for days I went to sleep
With my blood raging

He loved you like a son,
I screamed at his memory
And you thanked him with murder?
Then I realized it was worse than just murder
It was the betrayal of a trust so great

But we all have a little of Brutus in us
We have all betrayed those who cared for us
And by the gods we'll do it again
For we are weak and deceptive by nature
We tell lies and have innocent blood on our hands
This, is true for all of us

We all have a Caesar in us too
For we have been betrayed too often
Been stabbed in the back and left for dead
We have grown fearful because of this
We treat even the well lit streets
Like they are dark alleys

I walk the streets of Rome now
My heart is in anguish
I weep for the great general
For his life taken from him like this
And for the part Brutus played

But when you sit and think about it
Brutus wasn't right for doing this
But he was not wrong either
For in his heart he thought he was right
He thought he was saving something he loved

We have to think at least he struggled with the thought
That he had a few restless nights
Standing under the stars
With his mind in disarray
Caesar or Rome
And we have to think that
In the end he chose what he thought was right

So I weep for Brutus too
For how he must have felt after that day
How did he wash Caesars blood off his hands?
How did he fall asleep after seeing him
In that puddle of blood?

See, I believe he loved Caesar
But he loved Rome more
So when the time comes for you to choose
My friend,
I pray you have the strength to choose Rome

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet's computer artificial intelligence:

The poem "THE DEATH OF CAESAR" explores themes of betrayal, loyalty, and the internal struggle faced by individuals when making difficult choices. The poem effectively captures the emotional turmoil and conflicting emotions surrounding the assassination of Caesar and the role played by Brutus. The use of rhetorical questions and strong imagery adds depth to the poem.

One suggestion for improvement is to consider varying the structure and rhythm of the poem. Currently, the poem follows a consistent pattern of four-line stanzas with a regular rhyme scheme. Experimenting with different stanza lengths or incorporating varied line lengths could add more dynamic and engaging elements to the poem.

Additionally, the poem could benefit from further exploration and development of the speaker's personal perspective and emotions. While the poem touches on the universal nature of betrayal and the struggle between personal loyalty and a greater cause, delving deeper into the speaker's own experiences and emotions would enhance the overall impact of the poem.

Overall, "THE DEATH OF CAESAR" effectively conveys
