Ode To P.T.S.D.
Ode To P.T.S.D.
When hope is but a memory
of things that were not meant to be
frozen in a frame of mind
that sanity has left behind
days seem long and full of pain
a never-ending acid rain
eating at your very soul
until it is no longer whole
when even those you love seem lost
victims of the holocaust
your daily life has fallen in
like some enormous pit of sin
when time is but an enemy
Read the rest of the poem Show less
designed to never set you free
and flashbacks fom a sordid past
are all that ever seem to last
ghosts of those you used to know
return in some relentless show
that plays encores within your brain
and slowly drives you quite insane
when even God seems not to care
about the burdens that you bear
this is now your emptiness
a pawn of post traumatic stress

"If I am not mistaken, this is about homelessness and street people. It is very moving and touches the soul intensely. Having been homeless myself, I know the feelings well. Beautiful work, my friend!" -

"It's all been sai, but I will ad that this reads really well and it makes its point vehemently albeit with fewer words than some would have used. Good stuff Joe!" -

"Excellent theme and well written, my only suggestion is changing the last stanza a bit, because "sow" does not rhyme with "now" only in visual terms. Great read though!" -

About Me
Vietnam Vet / Hippie / Mountain Man. Outspoken yet reclusive, un-politically correct, will defend to the death things that I believe in. I love to write poetry and songs, sing, fish, and watch old westerns. If I had my druthers, I'd probably live 15 miles from Bigfoot's last known whereabouts!
