Lost Love

By: Alex Tanner

Should I recall those blissful times
When we like climbing flowers entwined;
Our blossoms scented evenings air
As Love and Lust forsook our cares.

Your laugh was soft and gentle,
A butterflies wings in spring,
Dancing on the sunbeams
Enough to make me sing.

Eyes so bright they sparkled
Diamonds on moonlit snow;
Flashing hither and thither
To make my pulse race so.

We held each other gentle
Yet tight so not to break,
Though deep, our love could never last,
Different paths our lives would take.

For fleeting months we tarried,
Each time we met we knew
This may be the last time
For lovers hours are few.

If I love ten thousand women
Tis you I will recall;
You gave yourself so willing,
For your passion I did fall.

On black nights as the wind howls,
As I lie in a bed so cold,
Your soft voice echoes 'cross the years
To warm my lonely soul.

Spirit World

The Library.

There coming into view
the great library of learning
the inside walls moved
with rainbow fire burning

There rows of books all glowing
these are filled with forever
Try, I heard, in mind flowing
to feel or see their knowing

think a book that you would read
It can only be of past or now deeds
All books are here to choose
Old stories and past written news

The future though written,
Is not to be, for us to see
I thought for a while
Of what book would I read.

So Hand me your Soul and your Love.

And I don’t believe in second chances
or quiet Sunday afternoons.

And I don’t believe in the record player, chipped,
in the corner of your scattered room.

And all of this, oh yes, this all
feels far away from me, from you.

Yet still I believe in honesty
like the girl in the loft with the musical words
that floated forth like whispers into the street-light spectrum
of another brink of night.

Yesterday Almost

I call my house from a cellphone.

I’ve just seen a girl in an empty parking lot.

We used to think something of each other,

if she’s the right one. I call to check

on the pots and pans, I wonder if the shadows

are the same on the wall. To think; at one

time, it was a real question once

whether the party went on without me,

or the toys moved when I was somewhere

else wondering about them. It was the same

question with this girl who walks in circles now;

I wondered if her shadows were the same.

To all who loved esker he has passed away

esker

hallowed be thy name
thy quill be done
on earth
writes now in heaven

you gave us our daily bread

love
Ida and our wonderful daughter klo

What do you see when you look at me?
Do you see that I am magical and beautiful?
How quickly do you see my imperfections, flaws, and scars?
The ones on my skin, below the surface
my heart has bandages and stitches.
What do you see when you look at me?
The epitome of hope and resiliency
Are you evaluating and analyzing how I am a risk, asset, or liability?
Are you waiting for an opportunity to call out my next mistake?
Do you see my potential, my wonders, my victories, my complexities?

WATER IS LIFE

An enemy of none.
Like a fountain dispersing
All around ,side by side.
The pure liquid ,
That gives birth to life.
My heart is craving,
My spirit need more.

Only a drop can save a life,
Even a little wet gives hope.
The an arthropod wants most.
Like an infant see it ,
Cries until it’s given to him.
Through the door of a soul,
It saturate and be sustained.
For water is life.

The Blackbird tide

Time interred by the slow procession of clocks
Each clack tick of black on white
Facing out, is a beating wing,
Of time attempting to flee

I know that you think like me,
Our minds are full of blackbirds,
Wind gusts, lost bees, blown
Off course by the night tides
Of the cold particle sea.

The thick of night,
The weight of night,
It enfolds darkened arms around,
All who sleep and dream inside
Without a sound, exposed

A Rare Gem.

Loneliness dangled my heart back and forth,
through void spaces under the winter cold,
yearning for your lush cuddles and warmth,
treasured far above the priciest gold.

In fealty my heart rests in a chest,
safe and secured waiting for you my love.
Yes, the one I have chosen as the best,
a rare gem, no one else will my heart crave.

You alone make my ardor flow upstream;
endowed with eerie verve, a queer prowess,
that steers my yearnings with an ecstatic helm
to a fruition realm of breathlessness.

Rudyard Kipling’s If - Updated

If you can keep your head when all about you people are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when everyone doubts you, but make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating, and yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise,
If you can dream and not make dreams your master,
If you can think and not make thoughts your aim,
