It's an age thing

Damn it you out there, it is enough.
Reached out and feeling nothing
Crying again at some dumb ass problem
Can’t shake off this lethargic presence
It seems to have taken up residence.

Stair that are far too steep for me
People that make me so angry
Can’t they see what I see each day?
Why are they so bloody blind?
No energy to even curse them my way.

Wake in the morning before the sun
Try to get up, well took a while but it’s done
There in my hand is a pair of socks
I find that my feet are too far away
Blast this pain as I to struggle them on.

Now the pants mean I have to move my ass
A bending pain not known before
Now I am up I have to reach the door.
Why are things so hard?
Is it the extra pounds of lard?

I wash, and then plop debris in the toilet
Why does water have to rise faster than me?
Shit first, or that water will be pee.
Now there’s a problem for me
Hand with paper is pure agony.

Feel great now that’s over
Better to have had a shower
Now the rest of the cloths to don
I shouted to her I wouldn’t be long.
Didn’t figure on the fasteners

Lift that leg you stupid bastard
Try not to catch it in your feet
Now find something to lean on
Balance, well that is long gone
Since falling over in the street

Oh shit I have trousers with buttons
My fingers don’t work that well
Should have had the zipper ones
Just a struggle to pull that tiny tag
Buttons and that, just make me gag.

No wonder old men are grumpy
No I am not going to wear a skirt
Blast, small buttons on this bloody shirt
I should just smile as they ask me too
But I haven’t finished more things to do

Just a morning to go out and find
Leaving this bedroom behind
If only I could get dressed
Others in this world seem so blessed
Maybe I am one of the cursed sods

Breakfast, now that’s the thing
What to have, some cereal will do
The packet is damn hard to get through
Ah that’s better sitting in my dish
Two biscuits that need milk.

Is there nothing sacred in this world?
The bloody milk carton’s got me screwed.
A new one just to start my blasted day
Took ten minutes to unscrew a plastic cap
Broke the bloody seal off as it hurt my hand

A knife now is held in my right hand
To stab the bastard so I can eat
You would think I was asking for a treat
How the hell do others cope?
Spilt the milk as I always do, so she says.

I can see that it’s just one of those days

What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?
Last few words:
Just a rough write I will edit another day as it is Late here, and I really need my beauty sleep lol..

can understand the theme! Seems like my feet get farther away each morning! Do you really think it is those few extra pounds around the middle? Must do something about that... one of these days. I didn't see much rhythm in this, but it flowed pretty well; as I was really interested in the story and if you would make it to fully dressed before you decided that you needed a nap! I thought that the title was apt and the beginning and end of the story was connected well with the logic. ~ Gee

Many thanks for your comments they will be great when I have time to sort out this write, it is in a very rough state but with all the oldies we have it will blossom into a good piece,
It is morning again and I have just gone through that ritual once more so will take more note of extras and where I went wrong if only I could remember what I was talking about lol.
Thanks, Yours, Ian

typos and punctuation errors you can easily find and fix. There's a reason age comes toward the end of our lives. It takes a Lot of experience to cope with it lol.And you forgot to mention arms becoming too long or too short to be able to read easily lol. (No way it could be I need glasses ). Enjoyed reading this and finding others share my boat........stan

This piece could end up being an epic, as I have only pointed at the getting up part so far, as I said to Gee if only I could remember what I started out to do, this one evolved into a pre epic monster.
Will edit it a few times and try to bring it into a proper write.
I do these writes in about twenty minutes then it became too late to edit, so I threw it at the stream.
I will try and work on it as soon as.
Take care out there and both of you have a great day, Yours Ian, & Anne, not forgetting the Children

I find all these age related afflictions to be perfectly counter-balanced by the fact that I no longer have to give a shit what others think...My money will arrive in the mail the first of the month no matter what... I can't be fired for grouchiness, or mental lapses, or slow motion, or stink....I no longer work...free to be old and cantankerous...Oh!,.what a glorious relief!

I like this poem, full of humorous bits and inevitable truths.

This old guy just sits here and lets things happen sometime the sad thing is, it's the comments on Neopoet that giving me a laugh, makes the day seem brighter, lol.
Thanks for your visit, you mean to tell me you have to wait for the money to be delivered? How do you cope with the tension, I go on line and watch the numbers change, such a delight if the colours change, red, black and back to red again it's a light display that sometimes gives dismay lol.
I delight in becoming angry with sometimes trivial things just to give my blood system a boost by putting up my heart rate, come on live a little, that's if it's worth getting up in the morning.
Winter makes me sad, no not the short days, well it gives me less time to see things to moan about.
I am fine really, you just have a great time, where ever you are, Yours Ian.T
