End of the Drought

She held it all inside --
smiled at people on the street.
Picked up groceries, put them in the fridge.
Laundered towels and linens.
Paid bills, made the bed.

Went to work.

But when a cedar waxwing flew into her window,
suddenly it became too much.
No longer was her lover there to
help bury the tiny, lifeless form.

And like a profane, wretched day,
her rain poured.

Life is hard and then you're slammed with something that puts you over the top. I.hope
this is'nt a personal story. If it is I' m very sad.

The power of our language can and will change the world.
Successively until our languages become one!

You are so kind. It is an experience I had many, many years ago in which I recovered. But I think it is really about all of us at some point in our lives, So much that we all have in common.
Thank you for reading!

I am so sorry...I had a similar experience and feel your pain! I was on my Motorcycle going about 35 mph and a Grackle flew into my windshield and broke its neck. Please feel better soon. great poem.

Hi Lavender, your poem flows beautifully. The lines are perfectly penned and every word counts. I love how it moves from ordinary every day life to dramatic emotions in an instant. Stunning work in every sense, Ruby :) xxx

The last 2 lines sum up your memories and grief in your life. Prayers!

I really didn't intend for this to be about me specifically, although I did have a similar scenario many, many years ago. I was imagining most people could relate at some point in their lives. I appreciate your warm thoughts, and thank you for reading!
