Months Gone By

Things had gone weary in our marriage.
If you care to relate it was like a horse behind its carriage.
By February he had gone his own way.
Settled in with a new lover by the end of May.
He had accumulated a lot of money by December.
I was still healing if I can remember.
Still separated by the next year.
He was celebrating, partying and I wasn't of good cheer.
Happy New Year he said over the phone in January.
I had to move on crying with the divorce papers I carry.
He was down and out needing my help in July.
I was healed, denying him access to me, I had said goodbye.
The months and seasons had passed by twice.
Before I could completely remove his footprints from my life.
By the time I put our son's costume on in October,
He asked to marry me again, it was a complete blur!
Never letting another unworthy person in my atmosphere.
To love again, my road is clear.
HEAL!!!!

the ending of this poem is unclear to me... did you take him back?
you have penned some mighty fine lies.

Just my perspective.

“Never letting another unworthy person in my atmosphere.
To love again, my road is clear.
HEAL!!!!”

I took that as a “hell no”. I could be wrong of course.
This was an easy read that told a very clear story. Nice rhyme. I’m sorry you had to experience this whole scene but if I’m correct you’re putting up boundaries now so you can grow.

Well done,
Tim

Love your response. I'm growing.

There's no perfect marriage any where. Is either you stay forever or you finally quit! Marriage is an institution that has no graduation. Is a continuous process. You learn more of your spouse day by day. Mostly, women folks suffer it the most. But whenever you decide to have a new man in your life always think; 'Will he be the best or worst than?' Or we stagnate in our own self loathing.

“We fall.
We rise.
We bend.
We break.
We burn but we survive.”
