Artic Winter Tale - The Scene set.
Frozen artic of white winds blow – similar to sand storms clouds almost touching the ice below You see a touch of azure blue appear - where the horizon separates the earth sea and sky Guillemots in harmony fly in formation the sight of them all turning together amazing - the
silent wilderness comes to life – spring begins the sun returns –ice starts to melt fresh
water the streams renewed - unveiling the new landscape hidden below. Sea ice - yet to melt - coastline still locked in ice - the white frozen ocean – this ice barrier
heat from the sun’s reflection - ice is thinning day by day – ice walls shimmer likesmouldering clouds where they shiver in the sunlight – frozen sea begins to
melt -the high sun illuminating strange worlds beneath the ice - echo’s of
giant cracks –new pathways emerge – for the migration of the artic
unicorn whales making their way north to find open pockets of
water - so they can come up to breathe – as they wait for
the ice to melt. Wind and ocean currants begin to break up - the ice of white –above sea birds dive beneath the ice – they catch fish theyreturn to their noisy young – September powers ebbs –sea birds fly south - ice barrier broken Polar bears searching for seals- thin ice melting - strong currants drifting ice sectionsfading fast - the polar bear’s world melt away they lunge forwards stretching out –lying sliding their full body across the ice – spreading their weight ice that isthinning fast – It will be hard for them to survive in the artic 20 - 40 degrees Marine visitors arrive in the fresh water estuary gentle undulations of the beluga whales’ when they surface –the winds and currants modulate – above sea ice starts to fragment - beluga whales are seen thrashing
in the water trying to get rid of old skin - so playfully they dance sunbathing for several weeks –polar
bears are scared there is little ice now – polar bears gets trapped on dry land they being meat
eaters - the seals own the waters now. Ice caps melt - waterfalls cascade into the sea below – clouds of ice forms - walls of icesculptures that stand a hundred feet tall - this now opens - the ocean the sun and icebattle - the polar bears spar with each other hungry they are - standing on hind legsthey must be 20ft tall - playful struggles just to keep them warm they lay downto rest to conserve heat - the sea no longer frozen - ice crystals form lockingtogether sea frozen packs – where the polar bears can again walk – and beready to hunt for seals - new winter ice - so thin the polar bears have todrag their body’s full length - so not to fall through thin ice teaching
his cub to survive November seas - frozen north until January-FebruaryBlue ice edge - of moving ice - 1.6* Beneath theice - the world beautiful but sinister - wherefresh water and sea water meet- Iceforms close in deeper. Sea bed disturbed by walrus stirring the ocean floor - in search of clams –clouds of dust disturbing the silence - walrus on land roll aroundtrying to shred their dead skin - so closely packed togetherfights do occur with spitting stabbing bellowing –Then return to huddle in the pack Fox cubs with boundless energy - to face the world soon without their mother
June to July the midnight sun in the wilderness - is transformed - birds in
flight - foxes must now survive the changing seasons - first snow falls
full artic winter returns - whales in the ocean are bursting with lifesummer feasting – the circle oflife continues.
