This ground that we stand upon is 4.6 billion years in the making.
The rivers, lakes, valleys that we stretch our limbs upon are unfathomably old,
from long before our species walked this earth.
It took 4.6 billion years to make you,
and me, and all of us inhabitants.
4.6 billion years behind us, and yet what’s ahead is still uncertain.
How lucky are we to exist in these forms?
How many butterflies must’ve flapped their wings for me to be born,
and raised by the trees and mountains around upstate New York?
We all have been given the most beautiful gift,
and I’ll be damned if I waste a second of it.
I want to dive to the deepest lakes,
and climb to the highest peaks
that this green earth has to offer.

I want to stand on a hill and dig my feet into the soft soil.
Stare up at old stars and sing I Love you.
I want to let them know that I am grateful,
for the infinite goodness this world provides.
For rambling rivers and friends to ramble with,
For sprawling fields and Mango trees,
For ripe plums and freshwater fish.
If stars could listen,
Thank you!
is what I would say.
Thank you so very much!
We are all alive together!
today is a very lucky day.
