Seven
Arise to clarity this morning.
Long removed from throbbing dawns.
Queasy breakfasts dripping with exhaustion.
Daily obligations to the liquor store.
Free from the stale remnants collecting on the countertop.
Aligned with loving purpose.
Trying every day.

Last few words:
January 26th is my 7 year “sober” date from alcohol which was a daily haunt for 20 years. Mostly strong beer, sometimes scotch. I owe it all to my wife who did a very brave thing and asked if I could slow down. I can’t. I can quit. So I did. I’m kinda all in or I’m out.

Absolutely amazing...
I admire your honesty in the admission of being "all in or out". I am somewhat like that. I still struggle with things. Congratulations on your seven years! This is a story that deserves telling and you have done so, in an amazing fashion. Crisp, clear images with little extra, to complete the feeling that this is a struggle that is largely over. ~ Geez.

Thank you
Yeah I do things all the way. I’m just now starting to be able to control my thinking. Nothing is as stone cold sober as getting triggered, realizing why and what behaviors that causes, and then side stepping those behaviors. That’s what my new goal has been and I consider it a kind of sobriety of the mind. Writing sure does help.

Dear Tim
I loved to have a bourbon or two once upon a time I never really had a problem drinking. It was my body (diabetes) that didn't take well to the morning after. So I haven't had a drink since 2011, I miss it every now and then but I don't miss feeling like death warmed up.
7yrs is a huge achievement, congratulations and I am sure your wife only adores you even more for doing such a loving thing for her she's a lucky woman.
I'd lose the caps on every line unless the first 4 are an acronym? Because the last 3 spell FAT?
Love Jayne
