Grandmother
My first friend
Neverending hugs
A red rocking chair
Inside a little house
Precious memories
Ephemeral at best
What I wouldn't give
For one last chance....

Thank you
I think of her often especially during the holidays. I miss our talks and hugs of course. She was a gentle, loving soul and even though it's been sixteen years, I miss her just as much.

this reminds me of
my Grandma Wright, a very loving farmers wife with two rocking chairs in her big kitchen. she would rock me while holding me on her lap. She was a great cook, especially with pies! I loved her dearly. the other grandma was a nightmare. I love your poem and feel the remorse and regret at the poems end.

I was fortunate
She lived with us for her last eighteen months but illness has changed her and those memories were not always fond ones. But those childhood memories are priceless. I miss her so much.

That’s so good
8 lines to relive my entire young childhood. Gold.

Thank you
I thought long and hard about what would be appropriate for our word this week and my grandmother was first to come to mind.

Hi Rula
Thank you for reading and for your comments. I could've said a lot more about our time together and things I miss but I felt given the context of the word...less was more.
