read, Kelsey's new ones and anything pertinent in the
way of learning the craft of writing and critique.

I'm not sure about calling it Research, sounds like hard work, perhaps Resources?

but we have the room (we have the room, right?). Collecting all the various blogs produced concerning critique all in one place is a winner, but I feel we already have a location for gathering work on writing in general. It's called NeoPoet.
I mean isn't that what we are about? Just a thought in that direction. I don't disagree per se and it certainly couldn't hurt to have a location for blogs dedicated solely to the craft of writing. I happen to have posted a couple of them myself.

it's about setting up an entirely separate Resource section. A committee of the more poetically informed poets could decide what goes in there.

a great image.
Someone needs to volunteer to help put Ian's A-Z of poetic terms into a manageable state. Also all your blogs on critique, some of mine, and perhaps ask the workshop leaders to write a summary of the workshops they have done.

And both of you have pushed me over the edge to create a little excitement over a good idea. This is what you reminded me of...
My two favorite "Rhyming Dictionaries" (which of course are not dictionaries at all... a piece of information that is lost on beginning poets, but that would be one of a trillion pieces of info gleaned at the new, improved, all knowing... okay) rhyming dictionaries... The first is the old Clement Wood thing and the other is Williard R. Espy's "Words to Rhyme With". Other than being rhymers, both of these books have "poet craft books". Small (too small) sections at the beginning with an overview of the poet's craft.
We are a "teaching" environment. Of course we should have a reference section, a "Poet's Craft Book". At first it would only be a collecting of essays discussing poetry from iambs to critique. As it grows we would want to put a poet (or hopefully two or more as it grows) in charge of organization, so a poet of any skill level could arrive at NeoPoet and spontaneously have a gaggle of questions answered while raising new ones.
I'm not only sold, I'm excited.

I have already broken these Blog's down to smaller groups I shall see what limit I have reached, and repost the new ones as soon as, It is the content that needs help if it's possible. I shall start the task today.
The problem is that I need to find a permanent place where they can sit without blocking the stream, thanks for your suggestion of help,

but if we take it slow. And yes, putting it in much smaller pieces! Being the poet here who still tries to get someone to read my hulking epic, I understand more than most the importance of posting in small sections. I won't run the project, but you can count on me to assist.

I think the idea of being able to reference different forms and such without having to click to another site is great. Could maybe even download a thesaurus.....................stan

being able to find resources that benefit the site would make a big difference.

Thank you all that had looked at the A-Z of poetry terms I have on Neo.
On my home site I have broken it up into several pieces, I can carry on with this form of reference.
The only thing is that I have included some input and variety from our own poets.
It only needs them to comment with a change then once that is done they can unpublish their comment so that the A-Z doesn't get too clogged.
I shall have another look at the bits and see what there is that I can do to improve them.
We just need a place to put these things so that new or old can go to the A-Z as they wish but it needs a lot of input ????

Many thanks for your comment on the A-Z I do need lots of help on it's content, it is only the bones of things.
We really need to find a way of where an entry can be edited by other than the original Author, but only on a higher level.
Something a kin to co writing mode where I can let others in.
But I will Edit to the comments that are received I have brought the Blog up to date when time permits or I find something new.
Any suggestion that the Blog's need I shall write them up as they come in, thank you again for your support..
Yours, Ian.T

I have broken the poetry forms down to single Items A-B-C etc: they will be edited as time permits.
I hope these will be of some use to many.
Please send any edits needed to the main Blog A-Z then I will incorporate them into the system.

Implementing this could really help new members and long time members find a home based resource center to get a variety of researched info that would help them with poetry and writing skills. A wonderful feature that would require Andrew expertise I'm sure

Very long thread and lots of ideas.
My thoughts for what they're worth.
A collection of informative blogs is a great idea, but I wouldn't call them resources.' Poets Corner' or Wesley's 'Poets Craft book'
I would then have a dedicated 'Resources' section where you could look up poetic terms, styles, poetic jargon, meter etc. This would take quite a bit of doing, but over time would build up into a sound knowledge base.
I know the blogs are informative, reference and links could be made to the relevant ones in the resources section.

many poets here
I have observed
at times use words normally unheard
to leave readers
in the vast nightly wilderness lurch
and
force them to search
the Google meaning thereof of words
simply to show off most of the time

some simple examples are
I have come across
petrichor,fecundity,petulant,stoic poignant etcetc etc
and so on
at times irrelevantly placed

I suggest some great critique here
picks up such words
from all poetry posted by neos
and make a small dictionary

''NEOPOETS VOCABULARY''
WHAT SAY thee

You supply a list of five words, the first couple of which I would never use (indeed the first one was new to me) but the others I use in everyday speech without the slightest thought that they may not be well known to others. I am self taught by the simple expedient of reading poetry I like. Fortunately most of that stems from the nineteenth century, when writers understood language.

I still have the documents we were developing and linking to Google Drive once upon a time. Would love to know if any progress could be made on this idea. I think it should combine the blogs folks have written with added materials as well.

Here is the document I mentioned. So far it was just a compilation of what people on the site had already written, just from what I was able to find by scouring the site.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1L_UxXaYm3MjdbmDs2Q5eFsmuSytIWtU_7Sor...

It would likely be easy to use the existing forum function to make the resources section. We would need to be able to start a new main topic that could have threads made within it. Then we would just need a link/button added to the main navigation menu.
