SEASONS

Where went the spring
when I was still flushed with youth,
when the wild birds all would sing
and everybody told the truth?

I recall blackberry blooms
and dogwood flowers pure and white
before they wilted into doom
and whippoorwills sang through the night.

The scent of honeysuckle filled the air
along with the musky privet hedges.
I ran and danced without a care
and had no fear of walking ledges.

With the spring came warming breezes
which wrapped me in their warm embraces
afflicting me with pollen's sneezes
as I walked through the sylvan traces.

Then summer came and with it heat
which I ignored for I was strong,
distracted by a girl so sweet
with whom I would share my life's song.

But summer came and then it went
and autumn came with leaves of gold
then like some ancient ent
it, too, left when it grew old.

Now my winter has arrived
when silence rules most everything
and this one query has survived.
Where went the spring ?

do you mean( then like some ancient ent?)

I like the nostalgia in your poem. every time I get a new ache or pain, I wonder where those sweet Spring and Summer days went to. I guess that Winter days are here, but we still have the memories of "when"! your rhyming is superb, good title and content!
it is so nice to see you posting again!
