The River Reminds Me...

The river reminds me that…
“Slow is smooth,
and smooth is fast”.
When loading the boat each day,
when setting the anchor,
tying to a pier,
choosing a campsite.

Such wisdom in
weighing the options,
choosing deliberate action.

Sometimes there is no time to rush.

Seldom has speeding been of benefit.
Multi-tasking is dangerous here.
(though that is how I’ve lived most of my life).

feel to this, as though you are making commentary about life on the Mississippi River. Something that the old man would have said to Huck, while trying to teach him to slow down and make sure things are right. Nice easy lesson in writing. Good job, nothing I would change here. ~ Geezer.

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

Reminding the reader that slowing things down and have them run smoothly yields a better result. We get so busy with every day life and multi-tasking seems to have become the norm, that we forget to take a step back and "go with the flow". Really good reflection poem.
