I CATCH THE RAIN (Imagery Workshop) by Esker

Submitted by Esker on Fri, 2017-05-26

beneath its burdensome adventure
rolling far above
my shoes kiss the smile
in its dark lair pocket
of glistening gulps
broken shards
stuttering
sizzling like a cold fire
these lights
thesis of mirth
exposing a fang
for throats
Let me taste the
fury of this gloat
gushing in its
creek bed wilds
latent brush
corpulent need
I spoke of the Hurt
this ache
leaning face to face
one more width
against the soft
remembrance
of saddened lips
pulling gravity
hip to hip
your ghost is
chilled with
fever
violet iris
fingers terse
sought buttonholes
like windows
night birds against
the cage
of heart
into these ruins
return to dark

Last few words:
Esker, or Steve to me, used Imagery to its maximum, although he has left us and journeyed on, his words will be remembered by many.

We will likely not see his equal again. And this image filled poem is a great choice for the shop

I miss the ole devil and his images of his ways.
He was a true Wolf solitary yet loved to hunt with the pack.
I can picture him smiling out there, writing short lined poetry with strange titles that rocked the imagination.
Missed and not forgotten,
Yours as always Ian ..
PS:- I sent Lori some more postage stamps a while back but nothing heard since but it is another world to honour xx

I hate to think that lots of Steve's writing might just get lost or tossed or anything - I was wondering how his daughter was doing too... last we were in touch he was getting on pretty well with her considering teenage wiles.

Love to know how they are doing if you know.

I was heart-broken to hear this news, thanks for putting this up. That man could put words together that would reach into your soul & shake it up so it REALLY saw things. Very great loss to the world of writers in my opinion.

Thanks again x

I think that Jess said at sometime he would gather Steve's poems together and forward them all to Lori and the family.
It is a pity that Lori is so quiet and I was unaware of Steve's daughter.
I was at one time gathering all of Stevens poems together to send to Lori but Jess said that there was a way on Neopoet that it could be done easier, I will ask him to see if it has been done,
Yours as always, Ian x

& an incredible enigma at the same time... but his poems always socked me in the gut in the most incredible ways - I wish I had his full life story, he told me many amazing little stories - He is a person whose life would make an incredible film I think.
