Fair Weather Friend

Friends can turn
From a mistake
Just misunderstood
The world can shake

I never lied to you
I just played the game
So did you, and I thought
It would always be the same

And yet when you don't
Bother to stick together
How am I the bad guy
For fighting the weather

I'm a manipulator and a liar
Simply for not joining you
Well, you didn't even ask me
What was I supposed to do?

I was with the bad guys, really?
They treat me good and are kind
You found your happiness alone
And I'm wrong for finding mine?

And so the queen is another joker
And I guess I'm just another slut
You're likely gonna slander my name
While I was pure and right, but

You wanted to win so badly
So I showed you my hand
But when I take the win
I'm low for trying to stand

I'm sick of you telling me
I'm bad with your reprimand
I guess now I know the only
Meaning of fair weather friend

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?

Hi Shelby.

Your poem is about a subject that we all have experienced at one time or another and you did a great job of putting a tough subject in perspective.

Fair weather friends need not darken our doors again. We can choose to invest our emotions in those that are with us through thick and thin. They are rare but oh so welcome!

Great job! - Will
