Amtrak-Step Back

Blue and red and silver caboose
Engineer, please, don't lose
If you climb aboard today
Race towards your finish
As no one cares
Engineer-be my guide
Partner here, please stay alive
Through the mount
And over the woods
Past anaconda
With moccasins
Uniformed, clean and coiffured
There sits a little in fails and furs
Unconcerned with callous pride
Men play cards
Sleep and dine
Wine and women never mix
Tired conductors
Mimic the wick
Voices garbled and stopped
Overlooked
Tickets cheap and seats overbooked
Curves and splinters everywhere
No life support
To help us care
In the dark the boards
Collapse
Braces fly like over flaps
All systems down
Hearts stop everywhere
Women who love
Have not a prayer
Every morn whistles blow
Laymen lay on Skid Row
Heart-working, heart-wrenching, heart-spendid
Men survive
How will women left behind
Drape themselves
And hit the wine
Oh, conductor don't fail me now
Find the lights and tell me how we lend apart
To stay the course until
We land apart
From pale white sand
